About I pass this field about a dozen times a week and have always thought that this tree would provide a nice image. This is the first time I managed to get the combination of light and red traffic signal, enabling me to capture the image.
Because I did not have much time, I had to crop the image and play with the colour saturation levels.
Have I succeeded, or ruined the picture, please?

Nicely composed landscape shot with good lighting and colours.

I noticed the white bar, too. It seems to have come from the borders in USEFILM, so I've taken off the borders until I can work out how to use them properly.

As far as the sky is concerned, I've noticed that it always seems washed out here, as if there is a permanent thin layer of cloud over it. Also, I agree with John Charlton that there is too much of it. Maybe one day I'll get around to reposting an improved version.

Thanks for the comments.

Hi Michael. I am surprised that such a rural looking scene would actually have a traffic light beside it. If there is somewhere to park, maybe you could take five and show us the traffic as well.

Back to the picture at hand, the colour saturation is fine but I find the composition a bit confused, pulling my attention in two different directions. Either there is too much sky for the foreground or there is two much foreground for for the sky. Judging by your title, I would probably have left the gates out of it.

Also, the white bar at the bottom of the photo throws me off. I bet you checked this photo against a white background before you uploaded it and were surprised to see the white within the black borders.

Thanks for the comments, people.
No, I didn't use any filters. My digital camera won't take them [at least, not without cardboard and sticky tape :) ] so I have to rely on my image editor.
I did strengthen the colour saturation a little to get this effect but I didn't want to go too far.

i disagree with the sky comments, i think the sky is just fine the way it is, it gives it a happy, almost cartoonish feeling, anyway thats just my opinion, what do i care right?

This is a lovely shot, I do agree though that the sky seems a bit to soft of a blue. Did you use any filters?

I enjoy the composition of this photo. It caught my eye out of all the other new postings. If it had been my shot, I might have made the sky more blue...? but I'm just an amateur and that's just my opinion.
Great shot!
