About
Local Transkei cow, shot at the South African, Wild Coast at about 8.30am one November morning last year. (2008)
The technique I use is a hybrid. A digital image, generated and output as a continous tone negative to final printsize, exposed as a potassium bichromate print, scanned and then manipulated digitally. Phew!, the process takes about 12-14 hours with drying times included.
I use the sun to expose the image, warm water to develop the image and a Hell scanner to input the image into some exotic custom software.
Most of the pigment is Winsor + Newton gouche with some Dr Maartens colour dyes mixed into it.
These images are normally for corporate boardroooms in South Africa. I do a couple a year and they are starting to become popular.
