As alwas your portraits have such a significant kind of power, but a power that lies in the details and in the whole conception rather than in exaggeration, Erland! And this is what I find so striking in your portraits, like on this one for example, namely the balance of all ingredients of good taste, and the necessity to study the images in order to find the already mentioned power. So, the images keep on evolving in one's mind.
The games of light and shadow brought a generous plasticity of the face and turned it into a defining element, which then allows to perceive the existing nounces of depth. As a contrast then, the gardine worked ver fine since it's shape seems to be defined rather by the distortion of geometry of its texture. Under these conditions the neutral expression gains much more than simply being on the image.
Very carefully done work!!!
