Hi Tim. Those tiles on the roof appear to be some kind of ceramic material. They look similar to the ones you can see in parts of Europe (Croatia for example) but are a different colour. The ones in Europe tend to be red/orange, in China they're usually black or grey.

Hi james, I popped over to your folio to see what you have been up to...Again I find some great new compositions this being one of them! Are all those roofs made of shale shingles, or are they wooden shingles? The warm tones in this image combined with all the textures of the roofs is fantastic. Hope you are well....cheers, Tim

So many point of interest in this composition, the most fascinating for me are the black roofs and the red gate on the foreground. Is that a pagoda on the upper left the one that is shape like a Christmas tree. All this old structure in contrast to the two new buildings.. A very traditional village here you have shown James. great shot! regards..

Nice composition, you have taken it so that the buildings wind nicely through the shot. Looks like a pretty village. Alison

Very nicely composed shot, James! I like the lighting and the way you've captured the designs made up of the shapes of the roofs. Dave.
