I am soooo glad You are alright because of those tragic fires .... I do worry for You guys every time I hear about the fires, & earthquakes both...I still refer to Ca. as my home...but I still worry!

thx for replay dear doley...i have a 28-300 and captured the moon...and i am looking for a 300-800 to have a better shot! i think u could capture better and sharper image by 500mm from the moon,
i will up load one of my shots tonight and will share with u... there some more moon in my portfolio...

Hi Ann and thanks for the comment. There have actually been about 500,000 evacuees . . . 10,000 are at Qualcom Park. But only 6 arrests for theft there. The people have behaved quite well and all seems to be improving.

Thanks Robert. One arsonist has been shot to death by police . . . others are at large ($150,000 USD reward). Surprisingly, they're separate, unrelated sociopaths . . . and several are accidentally started, i.e., the Magic Mountain fire set off by welders . . . Never-the-less, it seems our firefighters are getting an upper hand. Thanks very much!

Thanks Avi . . . 3 of the 4 nearest are 100% contained and the other is now 70% contained. 10,000 people at Qualcom stadium and only 6 arrests. Excellent work all around!

All I know is I like this color of moon around the harvest moon or so called. I know I just can't believe all the fires that are going on a one time. I haven't heard who or what started them. Keep safe. Excellent image here.

Thanks Joggie . . . Luckily, these fires have not taken many lives at this point . . . though even one is too many. Property devastation is another matter. More than half a million people are affected personally....so far, my family has been lucky and we are in no danger.

Thanks Mehul. The 1/500 shutter speed would have been a little underexposed as the moon was somewhat lower on the horizon . . . but I had little time as my grandaughter needed a photo shot and printed for school in the morning! I need to try this every few days for the 28 day cycle it seems . . . so I will give that a shot the day after tomorrow and compare the results. I cannot begin to imagine using a sunlight WB setting . . . but I shoot RAW and will check it out. Keeping in mind that the fires have put ash and smoke into the sky . . . the lower leveled moon has a darker sheen to it in any event . . . Thanks for the ideas . . . I'll certainly give them a shot!

Nice moon shot, did you try one with the Sunlight WB setting and 1/500 I think with the 200-500 lens you will have sharper pictures, I am planning for the moon shot on 25th the full moon night
