The lake is on the north side of Mount Çiçekbaba s peak, which is south of Beyağaç Town. Its altitude is 1903 m. The Forest Ministrys General Directorate of Wild Animals and National Parks has declared it a protected area. The oldest black pine trees are here at this lake and its surroundings. The ages of these black pine trees range from 850 to 1300 years. The lake and national forest form a rich natural preserve. Kartal Lake is 23 km from Beyağaç Town, 129 km from Denizli, 110 km from Aphrodisias, 118 km from Muğla and 36 km from Köyceğiz.
