You're sweet, Bill! Thank you :)
Ummm... I would know if I looked on a map! LOL! I was born in Gyor. I was 7 months of age when we arrived in Australia. I don't know Hungary well at all other than through my Dear Mother. She would know instantly where Erderbenye is! :) (She would then gently scold me for not knowing... hehehe...)
Best Wishes, Aniko :)

Gorgeous you! That is some serious look on your face... kind of like a "nailed it" smile...
I like your PS work over the original, it seems to bring about a mysterious aura for the photo.

Absolutely I am trying to be younger nor than your you are it, we have our lived years and I believe that it is most valuable that we have because gave the life experience us. Those lived years and that experience it left a track in our faces but I think that they are the best marks because they mean that we have lived all our life. This is too long to explayar to me in this space, for that reason I request you that you write me to my mail and I will respond to you on this subject and the game of self-portraits that I proposed to you. You are such an intelligent insightful Lady Dear Onie...
Of course we are ALL WAYS "me"...
I have no grief over Life experience, nor over the way I "appear" in my physical self, as you well know from having viewed many "faces" of me in Colin's PF... LOL!
I like your flip the mirror hehehe... :) :) :)
I, by the way, never started to "mess with my hair" until late in the 80's (aside from one horror perm in the late 70's... that put me off for years!!!!) I have dead straight hair and it is very fine... I have never liked it... lol... but hair is a funky thing... curl it, dye it, cut it, and like fingernails, it grows... so what the heck? And when all else fails... "You can leave your hat on!" ROFLOL! I have finally come to "terms" with more than my straight very fine hair... I have come to terms with ME.. take it or leave it... I am ME...and yes, it's not always such a joy ride... but then, whose life is??? :) :) :)
Happy Anniversary my Dear Friend and Many Warm Thanks! Ani :) :) :) (by any other name...........)

Dear Ricardo!
At the time, I was in good spirits :) I am not wishing to be young "outside", though I can appear even physically to be younger than I am... LOL! That is not vanity speaking, but honesty... My Hungarian blood speaks forth without my Mother's "good manners". (Oh Dear!!!) :) I am not pretty... I never have been, but I am not hideous either. :) I am that I am.
This image "refashioned" and even at the time of its making is something of a confrontation of myself with myself... to see myself... the dark eyes speak to me, represent to me, that of an artsit that "needs no eyes" to make and feel, create... "the art from the heart"...
I hope I make myself clear. Sometimes words are inadequate. I would never go back to being younger in Life experience. I have gained much along this rocky path... why retrace and relearn that which I am glad to have now...??? What I am at this moment, and what I have... it is called "quiet strength"...
I would enjoy participating in the game you propose! :) I am always "game"... :) Your move... :) :) )
Kisses to you, Aniko :)

~~GRIN~~ Ani... Fully understand the older photo idea of bringing *you* forward to *now*...:)))
For me it is a * This IS me... Still me... Though time changes the physical image, that inner self is very much who I am now, plus, much more for the years of love & hurt, learning & growing etc. in between...*
Family visiting a few weeks ago were looking through some old photos that I was sorting for packing... Sister-in-law said of some of our wedding photos (34 yrs ago this Saturday), that it didn't even look like me now... I was a little taken back, because in my eyes, other than the years gone, it was still me after all... We try to *project* the unseen, that personal inner self, into our physical outer shell, for the world to *see* the real me... or, sometimes try to *protect* and *hide* the real me...
A self portrait in the mirror is harder again, because we have a different issue... Be it conscious or sub-conscious, we examine what we see... The physical reflection... It is not even how others see our physical self... only how we see ourselves... It is in fact the reverse... we should probably flip the mirror image...
Excellent idea Ani...:))) and the darker, PP work hides time gone and brings the texture of life lived to the here and now... ~~GRIN~~ even with the growing out perm...:)))
Hugs dear friend...:)))
Onie...

You do not have anything to be thankful, I only said what I felt when seeing your photos and to read the text of the self-portrait; it can be that when you wrote that you were not of very good spirit? , if it is therefore I am glad to contribute to elevate it. I think that the self-portrait is one of the ways to valorize our image before we ourself therefore I propose a game to you, we interchange pictures to deal them with photoshop and see what leaves, in my portfolio you have my direction of mail. A kiss, Ricardo

Aniko, nobody is but old of what feels... and what feels transmits through the attitude, of the look, of that ago. Independently of the beautiful woman that I see in your portrait I think that you are young inside... for the creative restlessness that you have, for the desires of experiencing new techniques, for not being conventional but renovating. I know 20 year-old people that seems of 40 and others of 50 that seem of 25, depend on the attitude that take in front of the life. I send you a big kiss. Ricardo :)

LOL Shirley! :) :) :) You're too sweet. I am a brat! But I have no intentional evil within my heart. :)
In Colin's portfolio of me, there is one image I like a lot. It has been cropped into quite heavily, as there was a lady friend of mine in the image who was visiting from interstate whom I hadn't seen in years. Unfortunately, the DOF was shallow, and she looked more a blurr. It is the picture of me with a rose in my hand looking down. I was looking at my friend. And that is a genuine heartfelt smile on my part, since she had just picked me that rose from my garden and handed it to me. She made me feel so special and warm... :)

Yes Dear Shirley. I can see that from your lovely self portraits :) And indeed, the digital camera is a good instant feedback!
I have many other (not recent) self portraits where I was experimenting with the good old shutter release cable, or the self timer and jumping into frame... hehehe... some I prefer to this image, (for different reasons) as I didn't have to stare at myself in the mirror... and also the lighting was very different in those experiments. I chose this shot deliberately for the shadowy effect.
Nowdays, I don't make self portraits, but perhaps I should. It's just that my friend Colin Porter (UF member who kindly lends me his digital cameras from time to time), photographs the "current me"... and some of those images are out and out brattish! Because you know I am no angel, my dear! :) :) :)
Thank you again, my Dear Friend... I will visit you soon! Aniko :)

My Dear Srna! :)
Thank you so much.
I have made many replies in this thread regarding my perception, the reason I chose to select an older image and make the change...how I feel about it etc...
Sadly, as always, I am in a hurry as I have my eye on the other monitor screen at work, and while it is not so busy, I come in here and post...
You are very beautiful inside and out also, my friend! Many thanks again!

You're welcome, dear Aniko!:)
Most of my recent self-portraits have been done looking in a mirror, and I agree...it is difficult to know what expression to have. My expression problem was resolved by thinking of my sweetheart.;)Also, a digital camera is wonderful, because you get instant feedback and can keep trying until you get the result you want.:)

Greetings Dear Biljana!
I have no problem with not being so young anymore... :) :) :)
As I have written in reply to others, this is an older image of me and I have merely "painted in" more of who I am now, including literally the artwork, which at that time, although a photographer, I had no idea how to use PS!!! :) So this is an "extension" of me??? I think so! :)
I am pleased you like it my friend, and thank you from my heart.
Hugs to You~ Aniko :)

Thank you Dear Shirley!
It's hard to look at oneself in the mirror to make a self portrait shot, don't you think??? I have always found it so... I both like and not like this image of myself, (the original), as when I made it, I didn't know what expression to wear! :) It was like looking eye to eye with a familar stranger and doing my best to be "nice" when I was slightly afraid... lol... I concentrated more on framing the tripod levers thingos around my face to "frame" it somehow... hehehe....
This is not a recent image. I was younger then. I like the "metomophisis" I gave the PS version. Only the growing out perm gives away that it is not me more recntly I think!
As always, thank you SO much for your thoughtful and sweet comments my friend. I am rushing in and out of UF as I am on stand-by at work...
See you soon!
Hugs~ Aniko :)

High Nicki!!!
Thank you so much. I always enjoy playing in photoshop :) I do so whenever I am not enjoying doing whatever else I do, including work, which also is not a bad thing :)I enjoy my job/s.
The original image is not recent, dear... I just thought it was a good old one to alter... as it is like: someone I was and part of that someone still is... but I have grown, as is the way in Life, and at the moment, I like the balance I am very much doing my best to keep, which I believe the PS version shows through the heavier shadow and light and odd colours than that of the older orginal photo.
I ramble on, but at least I know what I mean!:) :) :)
You're very sweet... Thank You!
BIG HUGS TO YOU~ Aniko :)

Hi there Dear Michele... :)
Well... yes... lol... I guess I look somewhat like this picture as it is a picture of me! Hehehe... but I can't remember how old it is... possibly shot some 7 years ago? I think that's around the time I was growing out my last perm! LOL!
I have a lot of different "looks" Dear Michelle... no doubt some would shock you! Colin Porter here in UF has a portfolio with some 10 or so images of me in it called "The many faces of Aniko Heart". He "uses" me as his model... lol... and I am VERY cheeky and naughty in many of the images... Look it up if you wish :) :)
I always appreciate your kind comments and will visit when I can. I am taking a short break from work, but might be called back at any time... Have my eye on the other monitor at work... hehehe... :) :) :)
Loving Hugs and Thanks again~ Aniko :)
