About
A 50s-era model for a basement fallout shelter, built by "Display and Associates" of Ottawa, Ont. The original is 4'x 2'x 2 1/2' high and is made of painted styrofoam and wood. The bunks come out to reveal shelves of canned goods and other survival gear. It appears to have been some sort of travelling display unit. Shot with flash.
Hi Jon, The image could fit in the humour category if the subject wasn't so depressing. I'ts nice to know that everything would be okay again in 48 hours. :( Andre
The same unit, viewed from another angle. There is a small toilet room (with honeypot). One of the text panels reminds people to pack "plenty of polyethylene bags for disposing of human waste", but assures potential builders that "99% of fallout is dispersed within 48 hours".
