About This is a newspaper vending machine next to the door of the liquor store that I posted a picture of yesterday. The "Miss a day. Miss a lot." caught my eye and then I noticed an article in the paper about MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving. This struck me as ironic as it was on display next to the liquor store. Sometimes little things like this strike me as amusing.

Yes, you've caught the irony here, Jan! I like your composition of the paper through the glass, and including your title. Thanks for the about, which explains the shot and adds to our enjoyment of it. This is one thing that is missing so many times on UF.
Dave.

Thanks, Carlen. Seems like the folks in the area where I saw this newspaper are more interested in local news.

Lol at everyone's comments. You guys are so funny.

Anyway, I pretty much agree with everyone else. This is an interesting (and ironic) photo and the headlines are kind of strange. It is a reminder of how quickly things pass in the news though...

:)

Annemette -- Thanks so much for commenting. You are right; this particular paper seems to be a bit short on real news and focuses mostly on local and soft news. There were national and international stories inside but not with much emphasis.

"Miss a day- miss a lot"...rather funny photo, Jan, when reading some of the headlines of this particular paper making me feel that it´s mostly gossip I´d miss out on;-)Good spotted.
Take care

Onie -- First off, let me wish you a belated Happy Birthday!!!! 57 years old -- I have socks older than that!!! :) Many more to you.
(I just couldn't help myself).
Thanks for your comments and the observation about the weird mix of "stuff" on the front page. I wonder what weighty and important stories lurk on the inside pages.
Given all the major news and events, much of it bad I admit, the paper struck me as having some weird priorities for what they thought was front page news. But then it is a "local" paper and maybe folks in the area I was visiting feel they are saturated with all the bad "big" news.
--Best to you, Jan

Thanks, Paul. I am guessing the bottom fold was:
"City divorce rate on the rise". :)
I like your idea with good news/bad news contrast. The "duh" headline is about as stupid as they get and this is probably why print journalism is struggling today and failing to capture younger reader audiences (younger than 61 year-old boomers like me).
Ah, give me the good old days!!!!!

Besides MADD and the liquor store Jan, two stories, side by side... The irony also in this...

Crackdown on gangs in Del..... Del. teams have a shot...

The date I just noticed... ~~GRIN~~ 57 yrs ago I stuck my head out into the big wide world, opened my mouth... actually, don't think it's been shut since... RSI of the jaw...LOL...

A great eye for ticklin' the grey matter Jan...:)

Onie...

I'm more struck with "Strong marriages...good" headline on the top fold. Duckin' FUH!

So, on the bottom fold, did they have expose:
"Beating babies...bad" ?

Doyle -- Forty years of marriage this November means I get away with the chocolate breath. It was worth it! But I have learned-- never take anything for granted! Hehehehe.
Lord knows what kind of advice you are giving these young men of yours. Do they always listen to your coaching?

Ahhh . . . it's the little things that make life great! I was more interested in the headline . . . marriages make the city better huh? They should have said they are great for strengthening your relationship with your wife. My boys have all been told that one day they will meet the PERFECT woman. Beautiful. Smart. Witty. But I raised them right and I know they'll have the strength to say "No thanks, I'm already married!" LoL!

Doyle I <~~~~~

Mike -- Thanks so much for checking this out and making a comment. I truly appreciate it. I have never paid any attention to these news vending machines, having lost money in them many years ago, I now avoid them. If you have the same sign on yours maybe it is the same company that makes the vending machines all over the place. Now you have my curiosity up and I will keep my eyes peeled. Makes you want to say: This guy has gotta get a life! :) :)

That is great Jann.
The paper here has the same saying.
I saw your other post and it was very stricking in composition!
