this is really a perfect shot.how you managed to have light so good especially on the fish at the bottom left. id like to dive but i have some problems with my ears so if i ever visit the great barrier reef i ll choose your way to explore underwater life.

Dear Jeff, I can't swim.
My underwater shots were taken from what they call a sem-submersible, an amazing experience that I would highly recommend. We caught a catamaran out to a pontoon moored at the Normanton Reef about 60 kms out from Cairns. Included was a tour of the reef from the semi submersible. I was stunned by the massive numbers of fish. I was disappointed that the coral was all brown. Still worth the trip if you can manage it! CC

I really love this underwater picture. I so wish to visit the barrier reef and view the spectacular marine life as you obvisouly have. Did you use a special underwater camera here or was it was one of the cheaper models that are now on the market?

A dream of a shot, the composition is brilliant. I don't think you could have done any better. The eye is drawn towards the fish in the left corner and the sunlight draws the imagination upwards. Fantastic.

Stef, I just used my Nikon D200. This was taken through glass. We had 3 Reef experiences, snorkelling but no underwater camera so no photos, a semi submersible and a massive aquarium. I cannot recall where this one was taken, but the camera stayed dry. CC

I have always dreamt of seing the Great Barrier Reef, and this shows exactly why I want to go there! What a great photo that shows the biodiversity of the ocean, beautiful light and a gourgeous blue fish that almost seem to communicate or long for the sunbeams:-)
