About A modern clock. There are twelve divisions in the large circle area. The "clock" for me has a neat habit of switching orientations. It's actually a skylight in the airport. : Kambiz K if you see this, was looking for UFO's and found this. :-) Cropped/ burned and levels a bit. This is at the Memphis International Airport. Thanks for looking.

It does look like a spacecraft, of sorts. Suitable, I suppose for an airport. Great capture. Congratulations on SC.

Hi Mark,
Congrats on the award. Well deserved! Looking at this abstract does make you think... As Dave A mentioned, good thing you explained what it was.

I am so glad that you explained this or I'd have been here for hours trying to figure it out.

Very good eye, but excellent exposure and colors.

Best wishes,
Dave

This is a terrific composition with great post-processing. It is an optical illusion for certain. Well done. . .

Thanks Mark- glad I got the shift of the image right. And it is like an optical illusion- going in and out! The more I look, the more it changes! Matches title perfectly- keeps shifting!

Yes, exactly like you said.

I also liked the trick it did on my eye's too, how inside the blue area, towards the center seems to bend inward and then just as easily bends outward. :-)

Thanks Mark. I made progress on comp. that I discovered the front page! Now at least I know I was looking in the right place! You do long shifts- must be knackering. I used to do one 13 hour day- like two days in one isn't it?! Just one more question (honest!?), when you "flipped" that picture, do you mean from horizontal to vertical?

Mark Sherman   {K:15669} 5/20/2006
Thanks Mary, The picture goes to a separate area after it gets this award. As far as the front page, Usefilm seems to cycle thru their staff choices so it might or might not pop on the front page.

Sorry if it takes a bit to get back some times, I work really weird hours, shift work 6:45 pm to 7:00 am

Mary Slade   {K:40338} 5/20/2006
The blue on the left grabbed me - great colour. I thought it was a clock with four hours not lit and hands missing! Now I get it- and great idea. (I'm glad it isn't a UFO!) I like the lines, angles and different levels- like 3d. Feel you're sinking into it. When you say "flipped" - do you mean turned vertical instead of horizontal Mark?

What a great composition.
I am very sorry that some times my another side of MY feelings take over and take me toward a world of Sci Fi where there is NOT wars, hunger and injustice.
INDEED your beautiful image, that color trigger my feeling.
I am sure the UFO would be very happy with your image, also.

Hi, Irenka

Its just a skylight in the roof, that they made this neat design around, It happens to be in an area of the airport that a lot of corridors meet and create this large round area. This is what was on the celing.

I noticed that it had twelve spaces, with lights, some burned out, and I flipped it to make it look like a clock of sorts.. Sorry, should have been more clear.

Nice angle for the shot, looks quite abstract! I like it, wish I could see the clock itself!
