Alison,

Thank you again for your thoughts and comments. Harrison Begay is one of the most famous of indian artists. He works in watercolor.

Tell me how you output your photographs? It is a chief issue I have in the photography community. I am often getting in strong discussions about digital....and even silver based printmaking.

.....Gary

The lighting is wonderful and adds beautiful drama to this portrait, which has a very intimate feel to it. You have defenitely captured what seems like the artists personality.
I have been reading some of the stories that go along with your Native American portraits, and they are wonderful, I particularily liked Harrison Begay, he had quite a life. Alison

Hi
This is a typical picture to be seen in it's original size, the destruction of resize is clearly visable. Is there a black frame around the picture?

I love trade portraits (I don't know if this is the correct expression referring to people posing at work with their tools and trade simbols), they directly inherite a rich pictorial tradition and they represent the noblest face of man. In fact, they're almost the unique posing photos wich I like (for example, I hate fashion photography, no matter its intrinsic photographic value and skills). And this portrait is magnificient.

You handles the light here very well and the composition is great. I might have wanted some more light on his hand to accentuate it but it's great as is.
It's funny...I was thinking platinum print as well when it loaded.
Well done.

I can't believe I missed seeing this one until now. I can't say anything that hasn't been said already, but this is such a stunning image. Its flawless. He has a face and expression that could easily melt into the walls of the mission and become an icon itself. Well deserved EC, Gary. Congrats.

Thank you Terry!

Carlo Giantomassi is one of the most photogenic artists I have ever met. I feel he is my Rembrandt. Working up in the dome of the church, in the scaffolding, was a wonderful enviornment to photograph him. The first day I used strobe....but there was too much light. The next day I re-photographed him using his quality work lights....Voila'
