Excellent capture John, I've got the same thing only captured in b&w in plain white background, I also got white edge. Nice lighting, the red background with the lines sort of gives a hypnotic effect, a little tight on the bottom but overall a great still life. Thanks much for your comment to my image, best wishes.

How bout Rippled Rose? Excellent shot, John. thank you for the comment on Another Orchid. I'm afraid the labellum (the fancy petal) is about as sharp as possible. It was manually focused, but near an open door so it's possible there was a slight breeze. The rest of the orchid was intentionally blurred, but not the labellum. (It's also possible that my Tamaron zoom, thou pricey, is not as sharp as I'd like.) - Mister Ken

Hi John, thank you for commenting on my wineglasses. :-) Did you take yours on the same day as you posted? Because I took my photo on exactly trhe same day!. And years ago I took the one attached (your photo reminded me of it), I posted it as Waves I. I'll have a closer look at your portfolio, we seem to have the same interests. :-) Marion

Very creative John, the things you do with straws :) I really like how the wine glass distorts the pattern. Chris

Hi John! Thanks for Your kind comment!! This is really teriffic! The straws in the background look like a fancy curtain and the way they are reflected in the glass really looks great! The overall tone is pleasing and the setup is very creative!!!Would not expect less from You! Take care John! My best..............John

No Hugo, i don´t agreewith you here - i like this abstract feel and graphic touch with this lightning. I did this before but with another kind of background and the meaning was to get this effect. With another light it would be more usual and ordinary, in my opinion!

Hi John, The tritone feel of the image and the elaboration on the theme do work well. Great effect. I've been thinking about what you replied to my comment on the previous one, and I agree with you that my suggestion did not achieve the desired effect. Yet, I feel this one too needs a finishing touch. Reading about the use of a desklamp, I wonder if it could have anything to do with the choice of White balance and colour temperature.
The refraction effect is nicely dynamic, but not as strong as in the previeous one, yet the shot has improved in it's lighting and setup. The dark outline / gradient in the glass work well. Maybe a second (and possibly third) light, aimed vertically at the glass (from below, perhaps?) could make the glass look a bit more alive. Just guessing here.
Cheers,
Hugo
