I really like the image of the tulips in this photo, however I think the lens reflection takes away from the image. I guess I would prefer a usual image vs the unusual.

Mmmm...nice saturated colours, nice and sharp, good depth of field...my only nit is the bit of white stem at the far left...I'd be tempted to crop this down to lose that. I like the way this is cropped down to the slim horizontal.

Crisp, beautiful color, outstanding choice of DOF, and nicely composed... I think I'm sounding a little repetitive, but that's because the qualities I've listed above are relevant to most of your photos...

Well done my friend :-)

Eric? That Eric? I had almost given you up for dead. Good to see you publishing again. Okay, now was he on the bottom of that stem or did you just flip the pic? Welcome back fella.

Wonderful as always, eg! It is good to see you posting again.

The color, sharpness in the subject, and killer DOF are spot on. Way to go!

And Butchart Gardens...what an amazing place!

That is John's shot of the same flower. We were standing a few feet apart and shooting many great things at the LA Zoo.

Eric, I have missed your posts, so I've looked back through your portfolio...you need to shoot and post more!

This one is wonderful in its simplicity. It also reminds me that there is ALWAYS something to shoot...especially if you have the macro bug.

Let's see more!!

Eric, it is either Grevillea Long John, Grevillea longistyla or Grevillea johnsonii.
G. Long John is a hybrid between G. johnsonii and G. longistyla. Bruce

Oh My God..
Eric is for me a increddible plesaure!
to see a "old" photograpehgr of Usefilm, and to see a magnific and impressive close-up!
the clearly and the perfection are Wonderful!
the idea that is born, seems that is therefore impressive that flower much small is dipped in the great cosmos! an immense atmosphere therefore like the nature! ottim to the light and the background therefore dark.
..and congrats for the Staff Choice well deserved it!
very well done, 7+++++++

Hi Criscali,

From what little I remember of this shoot, I believe that there was some fill flash used, but nothing overpowering.

And thanks everyone for your comments.

This is such a great image, and you're right, it does look like it's shredded...excellent clarity and depth to this macro.
Congrats on staff choice!
