Cumprimentos,
Sérgio

Just love those colours, textures and details. And I would be happier if you had not shown the complete image . This image lives for itself.

ermmm, and I will have to rate this as a 7!

Fantastic Maya! It's great to see your work again!
Been missing your beautifull b&w's.
The man's profile is very well composed and I love the detail in it compared to the blured of the background.

I like the silhouette givven by the smoke (is that smoke?) coming out of his nose but I find it too distracting in it's more detailed area. But then again it is also quite irreverent.

Sérgio

Love the colours and composition Ed!
Just feel the transition between those two photos should be less harsh.

Still can?t understand how you actually did this!

What puzzles my mind is how can the strings have symectrical vibration to both sides of the same bar.

However you did this, it's just awesome and has a lot of rhythm in it.

Also find these colours very suitable. Somehow they are very acoustic.

Verena,

this is trully an original and creative view!

At the first look I tought Hugo's version was more correct as I wasn't too confortable with the remnants of those akward angles. But looking better I find those akward angles are just perfect: the way that wall ends in that white corner against the sky makes it feel like this vibrant plane, a perfect canvas for that projected shadow. Also the inclusion of that lamp is amazing as it gives the perfect reason for that shadow to be there, it actually looks it is the lamp that is projecting the shadow.

Saying all these I have to get back to those disturbing elements that give a litle context but disturb (for me) the speech of this great composition.

Well I tryed my version of it doing the following:

1. Decreased the light a bit so that plane would be more vibrant against the sky and that the shadow would be more contrasted;

2. Cropped it into a more horizontal frame that I feel more apropriate to this composition.

3. Removed the remnants of those 'awesome' angles condensing the wall to a single plane.

Well I just hope you like it!

Best regards,
Sérgio

When you draw the human body, you should draw harder and sharper lines in the parts that are under tension or doing strenght.

Here you applied that same principle with great results.

Lovely composition Ashley. The lines of the flower are very dynamic and it was a nice touch to continue them in the composition and out of the flower (by the green leave at the left bottom and the white spot at the right top).

At first I was not so found of the red going with the blue but then one sees the subtle and wonderfull colour composition in it: the blue going to violet and jumping to the red.

In the overall I find you to have a good and keen eye for subtleness. Weather you're aware of it or not, you should assume it more on your photos.

Best regards,
Sérgio

Marcio,

Great composition with those angles, shapes and light.

There is something missing though to congregate it all so I tried to put it in b/w to just bring out those elements I liked and make their composition speak for itself.

Just like saying: this is all I have to give. That way, I think we understand what is meant to be shown and don?t stay wondering if there's something that is missing.

What do you think?

Best regards,
Sérgio

Mary,

this is a very tricky composition and a very beautifull one.

I liked the feeling of silence and emptyness in it and tried to accentuate it.

See if you like it.

Really like those whites Amanda! But I'm wondering... did you compensate? I'm guessing it needs about +1/2 stop more?
I think I have to spend some rolls and try to get some good whites and high keys: my recent atempts didn't even came close to this one ; and this is a very cool subject for it, I see the low contrast situations help a lot.

Well as for the composition it took me quite a while to comment on this and the reason was that there is something I quite don't understand. Has something to do with those angles and their relation with the frame.
I've been thinking of square crops, rotating to vertical, etc, in order to adequate some of those tensions caused by those weird angles. They just make the overall very unbalanced - triangles always do.
Only now I tried this: cropped a bit, while rotating it counter-clockwise some degrees. I found the composition gets more natural and more flowing.
I also added a little more light(just a bit) adjusting the flat levels then the curves.

Well I hope you like this. Just tell me if it makes sense.

Best regards,
Sérgio

Wonderfull!!!

I want to learn how to shoot those whites!

Great composition and tones. Your photos seem to express a lot from you trough a kind of subliminar or subjective mood they have.

Great work here!

Scott,

I really like those curious 2D shapes and their composition in the photo. I think they would be better if they were all in the frame tough. Maybe just by moving your camera a bit to the right. I was already very well positioned with the film paralell to the leaves (i'm guessing) so it would give that pictorical feel.

Sérgio

Rick,

Remarkable composition and perspective.
I the thumbnail we have more perception of the richness of all those elements and their part in the composition.
In here it makes is good mind game to try and abstract yourself from the distractive reality of it.

Great work!

Congrats!!!

Staff choice Amanda! And this is definetly you!
Same wonderfull mood and feelings that where in the 'red'. Same beautifull tones of green. Really nice work!

Your work has this amazingly beautifull raw quality. Very strong and powerfull in its originality that makes you think constantly what would come out of it once you master it to (near) perfection.

And I guessing I'm not the only one thinking like that! Please do upload more whenever you feel that urge.

Best regards and congrats,
Sérgio
