Nice lighting. Cool colors all together. Pretty neat how the green peppers fits into the red pepper kind of like a puzzle. Well done.

Tweaking is cool..when you are able to find such an excellent subject and picture to tweak in just such the way you have this image. Cool! I like it! Actually I love it! Excellent photography as well!

Cool composition and colors! The red light at the end of the walkway really helps to lead me all the way down the path and at the same time does not take away from the rocks at the side of the walkway. Nice capture and 'see'.

I like this alot. No the cropping did not seem to ruin this shot for me. I didn't read your about comment until after I looked at the picture and did not even notice anything at all wrong with the picture Due to the lighting? My eye was certainly focused on the front of the house and the tree to the right. I like this

Oh, also, I shot this picture at an angle as it was low on the ground and I was crouced down...but not 'level' with the flower...thus cozing the one flower being more in focus than the other one.

The framing in this image is pretty cool. With the lighting you had to work with finding an angle would be tricky. I think you did a fine job in the composing. The picture is a bit soft tho Would this be due to the type of camera you used? Having no capability of using different f/stops and such? Nothing wrong with using digital or any camera you choose to be your favorite. It's just that the picture is a bit blurry or 'soft'. Don't get me wrong. I have plenty of blurry pics and use a SLR camera. My softness is lack of having control of my camera..LOL at my self. Anyway, nice composition

Thank you ladies for your comments on this 'beautiful' flower. I only had to add a little contrast to have the flower as they say..'pop' out As for the black background..the background is truly black. I did clone a couple of extra leaves from the image using the background color to cover them. I left the one green leaf for added color. Yes the middle stems are a bit soft. Darn it! The reason I say this is beacuse on the origingal scan you can definetly see the curly stems that I thought were delightful. I did use f/22 and a DOF preview button before taking the picture...but at the time I did not have my tripod set up when I saw this flower...

Hi lassitude. It was really GREAT to hear from you I seem to be partial to red flowers. I love all flowers but red seems to always catch my eye. Perhaps the brightness of them? Thank you for taking time to comment on this paticular one

This image is an EXCELLENT example of what I would like to be able to capture on film. The colors are beautiful. The focus is fantastic. I noticed your film..hmmm..not slide? Hmmm....Beautiful saturation and not grainy looking at all. Anyway, this is an example of exactly what I'm lookinf for in my photography abilities!

Thank you Sarah for the advice. I don't even think I know where I was focusing..probably as you mentioned..infinity. I hadn't thought about the 1/3 focus into the scene...hmmm..will certainly be trying this.

The input was very much needed and appreciated!

Hi and thanks for taking the time to comment on my photo. Yes, it is soft. As in the beginning when I joined Usefilm I had the hardest time getting flowers in focus. Well I think I've accomplished that a bit more successfully since joining this website thanks to all the help and advice from my friends at Usefilm. I have been trying to work on the Landscape project for months now. Haven't figured it out completely yet. I have been using a polarizer and DOF preview button most of the time. I'm beginning to think I need to use a different aperture...? Maybe f/8 and f/11? All advice is very welcomed

Beautiful colors. Cool compositon of a cool plant The curvature james mentioned is quite interesting but without it the image would seem more natural? Great capture Sailor Jerry.

Hi Danny. I love this image except for one thing...I'm wondering about the blueish greenish tint to the trees in the far far background. I come up with this color quite often. Is this due to colors of the trees..film..lighing? Just wondering what your opinion on this might be. All the other colors are excellent. The lighting is beautiful and I love the composition.

I'm in awe as to how you were able to get such green trees and the background to be in such wonderful focus. I tried this very same kind of framing when in San Diego and it just did not work for me. The framing was great but the trees were dark..darn! Do you think yours was captured due to use a digital camera?

Hi Adam,

I have found film to be tricky buisness. Slide film is best all around. For portraits of people..I think Kodak Portra VC160 or NC160 to be an excellent choice of film.

I have had a really hard time with slide film. My pictures always come back with such a blue tint..it's awful. I don't know how to improve on this problem as I think it's the company I have develop my film?

I know you will be happy with slide film on all your projects for the grain is so much finer than print film. Believe the professionals when they say slide film is less forgiving in lighting exposures and such but once you figure out your camera and how it exposes and how your surrounding lighting is you will be quite satisfied. If you are new to photography you may be like me and throw 1000's of pictures away in the beginning due to the lack of knowledge in lighting and such. You can read magazines and books and Usefilm members have excellent advice as to how to get wonderful pictures...but you will never learn as much as you will with hands on experience. You may be quicker than I have been but I have defintely had fun and learned alot. I'm now getting more and more pictures that I consider keepalbe than I was a year and a half ago At least 15-20 out of 36 rather than 1-5 our of 36

You have fun. Don't get to frustrated. There is alot to learn and you will learn the more you practice. Just laff at yourself when you get less than perfect pictures and know that your next roll of film will produce even better pictures than the last one

The trash can does not bother me. It seems to be a part of the surroundingsThe picture would be nice without it too

Debbie
