You are right. The ISS is not visible. In order to keep the pier lights under control I had to stop down too much to reveal the ISS. Also It was much higher in the sky and was out of the field of view of even the 19 mm!. Thanks for commentings

Traffic there is insane at that time of day! There must have been at least one car! The climb is modest but easy for most, afterall you start at almost below sea level. If one turns around 180 degrees you see Manley beacon which most mis identify as Zabrisky point. Nice to hear from you fella. JB

Steve - thanks for the suggestion. I don't know that I want drama. I did play with contrast alot and ended up with what you see. it is fun to see how the emotional content varies with dynamic range. Thanks again for the insight. John B

Because you are doing such a good job I will give my opinion. Really like the model and the shot.Three things I am not so thrilled with. 1) the hair lighting from the back is casting a shadow across her cheek that keeps drawing me to that bright spot and away from her eyes. Move the light more to directly behind her? 2) the strand of hair across her forehead is not working for me. dont know why. 3) the necklace. being bright and shinny my eye keeps going down there and I get caught by that dang green eye. Its competing with her for my attention. Lose the fish. good job and nice portfolio. John B.

First off, thank you for looking at my work Terry. I appreciate viewers interest. What am I trying to convey? What does it seem that I am trying to do? Assuming for the moment that I had a lucid idea, there is the possibility that I failed to achieve that goal. It will be viewers such as yourself who tell me what they see, that will prove whether or not I was successful. I am not trying to be coy but I really am interested in what people make of this image. I will post my take on it at a later date. Thanks again for commenting. Now, lets go make some great images. John B

Jim - thank you for the nice comment. It caused me to go back and look at this image again. The lighting is quite strange. the light at the horizon is clouds which are bright in infra red. That combined with the bright path give an illusion of the sun being low and behind the pillar. In fact its quite high over the roof. Then there is the heat reflecting off the stone wall on the right lighting up what should be dark rafters. Once again I am surprised by what the camera sees in IR versus what my eyes see. Thanks again for commenting. - John B

Okay, I am going. Family in town this week so its either here or Huntington. More art at Huntington but more intimate here? This is where you should have seen faeries Laurie. This should get a PS painterly treatment for your living quarters. JB

Very nice Phillip. Nice model, good pose, good location. My only comment would be to tone down the hot spots in her hair and her left shoulder. I pulled them down in PS so you can see what I mean. That way our eyes go right to her's. John B

Very well seen Ian. It took me a moment as well. All you need is some fog or smoke or a more fortuitous grouping of the out of focus white flowers and you'll have a spot on allegory. Very nice indeed.

Okay, here is my cut at it below. Changes I made were to brighten the green in levels but not the curve. Same thing with blue. That got the bride's dress to white. No change to overall saturation. Unsharp mask of ~ 23 with a radius of 8 and 0 for the range. that bumps up "local micro contrast" Unsharp mask again of 80 with a radius of 0.5 and 0 for the range to do ordinary sharpness. Free advice is worth what it costs.

Odd how one man's hover is another man's 'what the heck is holding that up' viewpoint. I read the email from you before seeing your crop, so I cropped it myself. REALLY didn't like it. Ah well. What the wall did do was bounce a lot of infra red up into the rafters and that is what gives it that luminous touch. Thanks for offering the ideas. now I'm off to a tattoo festival. John B
