I like it very much! I like your b/w photos as well, you have an interesting way of seeing the wolrd through the lens!
Congratulations,

Thank you very much, Andrea, your Bulgarian is great! :-) You may be right about the fallen tree trunk, I'm glad that you shared your oppinion. This picture is part of a series where I tried various compositions with a nice stream through the forest. Here I tried to convey a sense of depth and space with the trunk as a 'lead-in line', and it is important for me to see if people like it or dilike it. So, thanks again for commenting frankly. I'll upload more of this series, and I hope you'll comment on them too.
Best regards,
Denits

Thnak you, Colin. You're absolutely right about the class of our compact, of course. About the Hoya lens, its a set of the so-called 'diopters', or dioptric 'filters', if you like. With all three of them you get relatively good magnifcation in terms of size (with full zoom), but quality suffers a bit, I guess. A better solution to macro photography is what Domjan Svilkovic proposed - using a reversed 50mm f/2.8 (or faster) lens and an adapter (my adapter is LensMate, but I haven't got such a lens yet). He has great ideas with his A75, fully applicable to our A95 too. You could take a look at his profile, here's a link: http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/77771.html

Thank you very much, Gustav. I'm not offended in the least! On the contrary, I'm glad that you took some time to comment on my picture. You are right, it is far from perfect in terms of sharpness (it was one of the first images I took with my Hoya close-up set and I have to practise a lot more until I get used to handling it). It is good to receive critical comments, so that I can train my eye to look for uncompromising sharpness, which is especially important in macro, I believe.
Best regards and thank you once again!

Thank you, Margaret. Indeed, it so happened that two butterflies looking alike were uploaded almost at the same time. That's why my eye was immediately drawn towards your perfect shot, too. Thanks for commenting, I'm glad that you like my picture.

A great shot! I like it very much! It shows the bird with a somewhat pensive, almost human expression. The colours are also very plesant.
Congratulations,

Fine and delicate! Maybe Domjan has a point here, but this way the picture works well too. I like it very much!

I like the way the mountains 'dissolve' into the sky! It adds a surreal effect, for me. Lovely colours and contrasts, great job!

Thank you, Mervo! It is sad, indeed, but it didn't seem to affect it in any other way - it played around with the others, and, generally, seemed fine. I guess, if it is female, it will just lay its eggs and... life goes on.
Best regards,
Denitsa

Hi, Colin, and thank you very much! About the settings - nothing special, indeed. I shot this with three Hoya close-up lenses - +1, + 2 and +4, all screwed onto a LensMate adaptor. The metering mode was - 'Spot', and the focusing - automatic, not AiAF, but Flexi Zone (I set the AF frame position on the display and pointed it to the drop, then pressed the button halfway several times, until the AF frame became green - i.e. focused) Nothing special, really. The only trick is to chose an object that is far away from the background, so the DOF can be ok. This was a high plant - nettle, as far as I remember, about a meter or so higher than the other vegetation.
Thanks for looking at my pictures!
Best regards,
Denitsa

Great job! Great technique, too - I'll try it, it sounds as a useful alternative to the ND grads!
Congratulations!
And thank you for commenting on my macro shot, I'm glad you like it. You have wonderful pics, I can only learn from you.

Thank you very much, Domjan! Excellent advice! I'll try it as soon as I can. This is an invaluable tip, thanks once again. It's so good when to find someone who has already solved these problems - great!

Domjan, could you please explain a bit more about your "homemade flash 'guide' "? I hate my in-built flash, and I'm not quite sure what can I do about it. Thanks in advance!

Hi, Domjan,
this is a great caprute of an amazing relationship in the natural world! And, I just love the horny little things on the backs of those 'cows' :-)
Thank you for the tip to use a reversed lens for macro pictures. I'm already planning to get one, indeed. Anyway, besides the technical side, your pictures have a remarkable meaningful side to them - as the witty title of this one shows.
Best regards,
Denitsa
