Yep - just stumbled on it by chance.
I like compliments 80) but it feels a little fraudulent when taking photos of someone else's work of art.....
It was beautiful - I just took a picture of it!

Yeah, that balanced out pretty well. That explains the whiter regions in the window openings. Nicely done. Good lesson learned. Vive l'expérimentation!

Thanks James.
I learned a lot about flash from taking this photo. The top of the shaft was bright daylight, and in other shots, over-exposed completely.
This flash combined with 1/250 at F22 or something like that, was effectively only using the flash to light the scene. Even cut out the light from the strip lights behind each opening with bars!

I dropped the saturation to zero and got this - what else should I do?

Thanks for your comment.
I have not played with conversions to B&W - can you suggest a good method?

oh, there's so many tender emotions in this photo. I really like how natural it is with the dirty nails and hands. I would love to see it in black and white too..- think that would give it just that finishing touch.

Good grab, a minor levels tweak in PS to bring the highlights up a bit would make a huge difference.

Cheers,
