I am sorry it took me so long to comment ... but you know I love this photo. The contrast between the sharp vertical lines of the tiger and the soft chaotic vertical lines of the ivy provides a festival for the eyes! Thanks Kris

The thumbnail looks good (very colourful and nicely balanced) - the full immage just wont open. Possibly you would like to remove it from the site, and re-submit it later. Regards Bryan

The artful inclusion of the cyclist and his body language makes the capture into a special image. The archway is so threatening, daunting, imposing and over powering, yet there below is someone who has a completly different thought in mind. Well captured. Alan Mead

for some reason it doesn't show in the large size only in the medium. I'm not sure how to modify that and will have to figure it out for my next uploads. Until then though, feel free to click on the medium instead of large!

It would be better if cropped to remove everything above the side of the building. The top is much to white and completely throws the image off balance.

This photo was in reference to how I was feeling (and am still feeling) about how this country was supposed to be, and how it actually ended up. That statue was supposed to stand for freedom, free speech, equality, and the bettering of the human race, and instead our rights are being taken away with private investors seizing peoples homes to "better the community", among other things. I just feel like its an expression of how the people should feel even though everyone seems so apathetic.

Hi Kristin,
Im certainly no expert! but I have used Photoshop a lot and work with people who use it professionally, so you pick up the odd tip here and there
If you have Photoshop CS you can also use the shadow/highlight (image/adjustments menu) to balance the dark and light areas.
Kindest Regards
Todd.

Hi Kristin,
I don't think you've done a bad job at all In photoshop did you apply your lightening globally to the whole image or selectively ? you could use the dodge/burn tool to pick up the shadow areas and push back the path.
Todd.

It was a hard shot to shoot. I was looking to put the path as the center focus but its a little too wide...on top of which the lighting was worse than I had thought originally and I was having a hard time lighting it up with photoshop without completely draining the photo of life. It came out so so.

Its an interesting shot and the reflection of the buildings in the water makes it even more so, but I think the film has struggled with the dynamic range requested. There is quite a bit of lost detail in the dark regions and a lot of blown highlights on the pathway. Not that that really matters.
What was the focal point as the shot seems a little soft ?
Regards
Todd.
