I like pictures like this. The combination of evenly spaced bright colors in contrast to dull monotones make the color jump out at you. Also the image has alot of sharp edges and good clarity. Definitely a keeper!

You definitely succeeded, without a doubt. The angle and background are perfect, and the model is beautiful and svelte. Her skin is flawless.

Thanks for the complement Keyla. (Although I have no idea what PS is) I am an absolute novice at photography. I bought an old Canon Eos Rebel second hand, and since I have really developed an interest in photography. I never thought taking good pictures was possible for someone without years of experience. I have been trying to make time to learn more about the trade, classes, etc., but with my hectic schedule I have only been able to pick up the barest of basics. I hope to find an online class I can enroll in soon. By the way I like your portfolio. The photos of the children are great. Thanks again, Lee.

Very good photo. The girl is cute and sweet, and the colors remind me of mild sepia tones. A question though, the henna tattoos on her, the one on her arm is a schoolteacher I assume, what is the one on her leg of? Just curious. Overall great picture.

Great picture, both morose and funny. The clown does not look happy, the horse is too small, there is no audience, no lights and no popcorn strewn on the ground. Still yet he's doing his routine. Also the use of lighting and shadows give this picture a very cold feeling, which kind of lends to the expression on his face. Great shot.

The expression on the girl's face makes this picture for me. The clarity and color is good, but she sort of steals the scene. It's honest and sweet. A very good photo.

Very nice image. It's sultry and just a bit risque in its own way. The dark in the photo matches her demure expression perfectly. Also her hair complements the room nicely, and vice versa.

This is an excellent picture. I don't agree with the previous commentors who are picking the picture apart for bland aesthetic reasons. It's a very pretty young woman, lying on the cool grass on a bright sunny day. The sunlight is true to life and gives the image a soft, warm feel. The fact that the light is bright on her chest tends to lead the eye to her pretty face and mouth, and gives the photo a more overall elegant feel. I don't think lighting needs to be aesthetically perfect to make a good picture, and this photo is good proof. Overall, a very good picture, and not to mention a very fetching young woman. Good shot!

Peta you honestly amaze me. I was taken with the self port you took behind the beaded curtain, and have looked through every picture in your portfolio. I am impressed by the stunning landscape and cityscapes you have captured, as well as the intimate captures of children and people. You're quite gifted. I would love the opportunity to visit Melbourne to try and capture some of these same images myself. Your work is very impressive, from the intimate semi nude glimpses of yourself, to the earthy images of common every day faces. You should publish your own coffee table book. Keep shooting.

Pictures like these are the best. Everything in the picture is captured perfectly, from the woman's warm smile to the baby's little fingers. She's a little doll. The black and white really complement the image. Definitely worth framing.

I've only been a member of usefilm for a week now, but already I have noticed that alot of people on this site think their opinion on photography is the only opinion on photography. This picture turned out just the way I wanted it to.

Oh, the days of the air cooled VW Beetle. Makes me think of the late seventies in small town Alabama, when everyone had a VW bug with big tires racing through the mud. I like this picture, it brings back memories.

Wow, great range of color with perfect clarity. Your hair and the dark colors in the dress accent your skin as well as the background nicely. The bracelet and painted nails add just enough additional color without going overboard. Very impressive shot!

Hi Alastair, thanks for the complement. I took thus picture in the heat of the summer. When I saw the chain I decided it wouldn't do it justice with color film. I used the rest of my color film then came back to the chain with a fresh roll of b&w. Something about it looked cold to me, if that makes any sense. I wanted the picture to look as if the chain had been hanging there lonely for centuries, and I luckily captured it just the way I wanted. Something about it reminder me of The Old Man And The Sea.

Hi Gord, thanks for the welcome. I took three of these shots (with my girlfriend holding me by the belt to make sure I didn't fall to my death). I took two using the aotufocus and one without. After comparing the three prints I decided I liked the shot taken without the focus because the lack of precise focus made the edges look softer and the light and colors blend in together more softly. It gave the picture an almost ominous quality that I liked. Thanks again for the warm welcome.
