Thank you so much for the suggestion. I overlooked that, but it makes complete sense. Thank you for offering your advice and no just a complement.

I love the reflection. Fractured reflections are always appealing to me! I would suggest that if your have the software to it you might want to straighten the edge of the building (left side of image).

Nice picture - good depth of field. One thing that might improve it is if your wife was reclining on the beach naked.

Thanks Phil. Going digital has helped me a lot. I enjoy the outdoors enough that even when things don't work out to get some good pictures, I can still shoot and not feel guilty. I find myself driving down the road and looking at things through a view finder and not the whole perspective at times. I think it annoys my wife, but it is what I need to do to develop my eye. Thanks for the compliments.

Kevin
I know what you mean when you say it takes a lot of skill patience and some luck. I took up photography about a year ago and have been very frustrated with many images not coming out how I wanted. Every now and again a good image is captured which makes it all worth while. I am glad I took this up as a hobby, love it. Keep snapping you?ll get some great pictures which will make it all worth while. Good Luck Phil H

Truly excellent shot. The expression on his face reminds me of political cartoons. There are probably a bunch of tag lines that would work with this shot. One that comes to mind is "You're doing what with Social Security?" :-) Nice work.

Thanks Jonathan. I was reluctant to even post this pic and it seems to get more response from my friends and the nice people here than any of my photos. As a beginner, it is nice to hear what people like...especially if it doesn't immediately appeal to me (i can be hard on myself). Good luck on you pics and I hope you get some good pics of eagles at Roaring River. (I would've liked that to be a tighter shot, but it was already cropped and I didn't want to lose resolution. Take care.

Thanks. The sun was very low at this point in the morning and with the snow, it was incredibly bright out. Any ideas on bringing out the blue in the sky and making a more interesting backdrop? This angle was the only one that turned out well of this particular eagle.

a tighter cropping would have made this shot even better. a higher shutter speed would have reduced the camera shake.
