hi Randy
The rock is made of solid granit..which as im sure you know is extremly hardand light gray in color going to a darker gray..but when wet like it is in the capture and combining a direct angle of the sun..it looked like silver monutain shinning brightly in the morning..the softer earth top soil is composed mostly of iron which is why it has such a red look to it..
thanks for your comments
Rex
I have attatched a cropped close up of the same pic..on the 7th layer down from the top..and on the right side...you can see what i belive is minning equipment parked...it gives a little better perspective of the sheer size of this cross section of a mountain quarry

Hi Tabitha
Great capture...i must say it looks so much like an oil slick..are those all natural swirls or is it a man made mess..?

Hi Chelsea
Well lets see now..??...as much as i would love to take the credit..i cant...these wonderful creatures just seemed to be natural born hams..i used a squeeker (pet toy) to keep their attention..all seemed interested in it except for the Pug and he didnt seem to let anything excite him...LOL

Hi Laura
Yes i really enjoy the action at these events too..and it always provides some challenging photo opps..in order to get even clearer and better action shots...im going to have to invest in 2.8 75x 200 mm lens tho..
BTY...i have looked thru your portfoilo ...you do wonderful work
thanks again

Hi Fred
Thanks for your reply..to answer your question...no..flashes are not allowed in the event..something about spooking the animals i suppose..the captures i posted here are just a few of what i got..all were taken with my digital camera..1/400 to 1/500 of a sec shutter speed..4.0 apture..and 1600 ISO..i was in the second level using my 75/300 lens..most have been cropped to what you see here

Hi laura
Ya..it really is a shame...modern tech has mostly replaced the need for buildings such as she must have been...the farm land around her is still being farmed..the little stuff animal you see laying among the discarded junk and trash was in the old house that adjoined the farm on the property...guess im just getting older than i thought..i miss the days when all was at its prime..the land was respected and the people were respected
Thanks for your comments

Hi Dave...thanks for the comments...ya yer right..this old boy got a little tired of me following him..he finaly stopped to stare me down..as his shackles went up...i started back peddling...but he allowed me a nice capture...if you browse thru my captures..you will find his mate..she is much more tolerant of me and has in fact allowed me a lot of really nice captures..in fact we seem to have formed a kind of bond...she allows me really close to her..and shows no fear whenever im around her...once again...thanks for the reply
