I like too much Venezia Carnaval but I've never been this wonderful carnaval.

GOD'S LITTLE SPARROW
The little sparrow fell from the sky,
It broke its wing and could not fly.
I could have stayed there by its side,
Watching, waiting. while it died.
But I determined first I'd try,
To find it a place both safe and dry.
So I raised it very high,
To a branch up in the sky.
And to my joy, with one sweet cry,
The injured bird began to fly.
Being underneath the Father's eye,
The little sparrow did not die.
It went up - up - up into the sky,
With one small wing, the bird did fly.
Then it vanished from my eye
And I bid the tiny bird good-bye,

Not to start a debate here but... 
I took a quick whirl at it as well, and using the levels command (using the histogram) was able to get the background darker and still keep some of the detail in the hair.
It is a shame it is a bit soft.

Bon,
I find your image slighly overexposed, there is a white haze to the image, the background, i feel would look better as black, i think, you could do one of two things to your images to correct this. Post processing you could increase the contrast, thus darkening the background, this also increases the highlights, so bring the brightness down a few steps to compensate, OR, you could try forcing your camera to underexpose by say 1/2 a stop, this will increase the contrasts in the image, and reduce the white haze I have mentioned.
I have had a quick try with your image with what I suggested above, and got the result shown, the face appears alot darker but I feel the rest of the image and the model is alot cleaner.
I am interested to hearing your response

Hi Bon,
Nice capture of the Great Pyramid of Khufu but I wanted to point out this rectangular building on the right side of the photo is Khufu's Solar Boat Museum.
This boat was rebuilt over 14 years from about 1,200 pieces of cedarwood found in a pit next to the Great Pyramid. It is 140-foot-long boat and is thought to have been the one that carried Pharoah Khufu along the Nile.

For a camera that is really excelent for astrophotography, this is a really bad shot
Try setting the manual focus to infinity. The use of a tripod is mandatory. Use longer exposures (15sec) with higher ISO. Try stacking a few 15sec frames together as it really brings out the details.
