Beautiful image, but John is right about the lines. If you are scanning the negative, that is likely where the artifacts originate.

Love the composition and tones but the verticle scan lines detract from the overall effect. A slight blur of the sky would help soften these. Regards John

Hi George, many thanks for your comments. you are correct in saying that the 'black' is in fact the sea. I used a red filter to boost the black and white on this image. Be assured your always welcome in Ireland. For more images checkout www.irish-images.com , which is my website. Thanks again for your feedback! Regards Cormac.

A few years ago, my wife and I drove through Ireland--a wonderful experience. At the time, I had not yet gotten back to anything like serious photography. We didn't get to Antrim, but with images like this one, I am even more anxious to return. This is a striking--even surprising--image. I suppose the dark area is the sea, and the starkness of the contrast of that area does dominate the image. But the soft value rendition of the field in the foreground is really lovely and very inviting. Thanks . . .

Regards,
--george

What a wonderful and surprising image! In thumbnail view, I was certain it was Asian. It is a grand compostion, though, wherever it might be. The strong diagonal of the street and the bicycle in the foreground are perfectly placed.

I really like this shot, Cormac. A great scene that speaks so much to Ireland's history. Great choice of B&W and the simple frame.

Nice pic. Black and white works well with this photo. Love the way the path leads mt eye to trhe center where the cottage is. Well composed.I understand that my ancesters came from Co. Clair 100 years ago so this photo caught my eye straight away. Nice work.
