I like the 8700 very much! My first digital cam was a Sony that gave me remarkable colors and was easy to operate. I had a bit of a time learning my way around the Nikon, I almost needed an engineer to explain some of the things to me, but as you can see it does a wonderful job! Not sure if I would purchase this model again, in all honesty, I probably should have waited for the D SLR's to come in to stock. The Cannon 20D looks like a nice piece of equipment, but see anything that has automatic settings on it is a problem for me, as I have always shot 35mm's with manual settings. If you are considering a digital camera, I would consider them in this order: 1. Canon 20D 2. Sony F828 3. Minolta A1 4. Nikon 8700 I am not saying that it does a bad job, but look at the natural color in my sunrises that were shot with the Sony. I would check out all of the above if I were shopping for another digital!

Thanks for the comments Brenda. I presume you are refering to the very bad weather you guys have had recently. Hope you are OK. Very impressed with your images by the way. I would be interesed in knowing how you are getting on with the Nikon. I have the 5700 which is basically the same camera.

Nice shot...the way the sun is ducking behind the clouds looks great. A good amount of foreground interest keeps your attention. 5

Thanks for the kind words. The highlands of Scotland is a wonderful place for a photogrpher. But it takes me ages to get anywhere as I seem to be constantly stopping to try and capture all the great environment

Great job Neal, I would have done the same, an interesting composition with some man made objects to give some reference as to the human activity that goes on hours before the sunset. Hope you lost some weight during your "tortuous" activity! Regards, Cary
