As a life long Canadian prairie dweller I have seen few pictures that are able to capture the expanse of the sky - your image is able to convey the largeness of the sky and the flatness of the land - a tricky balance to acheive, your composition seems to do the trick, at least to these eyes.

It is not often that a giant sand dune picture also includes smaller dunes. I like the contrast between the large dune in the forground and the smaller dunes in the background - it emphasizes the size of the larger dune. The early morning (or late evening) light makes the patterns and footprints in the sand stand out really well. A great image - well done!

Just the right shutter speed - to keep the geese sharp but with some motion blurring of the wingtips showing movement. Having the flock in flight against a sunset background makes for a great picture - reminds me of autumn.

Lovely hues in this picture. I like how the lines created by the shore and water lead off at angles giving a strong sense of perspective - thus the tower, while small in the image, still has a sense of being big. Nicely done.

An interesting shot of patterns and textures in this wall. The light seems to be indirect or subdued, I wonder what this section of wall would look like with strong side lighting producing stronger contrast. Still I like the way this looks, it reminds me of one of those satellite images of the earth.

A strong image - the use of the screen in the foreground adds not only visual interest, but an emotional impact to the picture as well. The high contrast of the image adds to the impact as well. Great shot!

Thanks for your comment. I was hoping the smallness of the church building would emphasize the vastness of the prarie land and sky - maybe it doesn't work like I had hoped.

An interesting study in texture, colour and shape. The repeating archways emphasize the depth of the image. Good work!

A gritty scene well captured by a black and white photograph. The shadow of the person on the wall adds a human element to the picture, giving it some drama and mystery. Nicely done.

The expressions on the dancers' faces are wonderful, and the sense of grace in the dancers' movements has been captured by this image. Too bad there were onlookers in the background which distracts a little from the central characters. I like the border effect, I think it enhances the image.

A simple composition which has an iconic sense to it (maybe just because I'm a proud Canadian). The detail in the leaf and wood is nicely captured. Well done (even if the placement of the leaf was mother nature's doing).

Nicely chosen shutter speed - the movement of the water looks just right. The mist seen on the far shore adds a nice touch to the whole image. Beautifully done.

This could be a scene from a Western. Well composed with the reddish hills contrasting nicely with the deep blue sky. You were lucky to have the white horse leading the others in this picture, because I think it gives the image even more visual interest. If it were not for the halter on the one horse this scene could easily be imagined as a herd of wild horses running free. Well done.

I would have said "hot" rather than cool, but either way a great picture. How did you acheive the slight haze around the cars that makes them almost glow?

There's nothing like a little early morning mist to make a scene magical. The simple composition works well with the canal leading the eye to the horizon where we see the mist amongst the trees. The reflection of the sky in the water adds a nice balancing aspect to the picture, creating an overall feeling of peace and stillness. I possibly might have cropped out the plants sticking up into the bottom of the picture, but otherwise a well seen and well captured picture.

Too bad about the shadow on the bass player's face, otherwise this is a great photo - shows the intensity in the musicians performance. Your picture makes me wish I could hear these guys - I bet it was one funky, jazzy performance.

Nice use of the wide angle lens. Your composition is great, the clouds and the plants pull my attention right into the centre of the picture and then along the horizon so that I spot that wonderful little detail of a ship way off in the distance. Well worth looking at in the large format, lots of superb details.

A truly magical shot! Great lighting, the detail in the water coming off the rock is incredible, especially against that dark sky. I think it was wise to include the top of the picture, it gives the picture a sense of hope in what otherwise could be a foreboding image. Well done - excellent photo.

Beautiful macro work! Incredible colour and lighting. The ladybug is on a journey and your image draws us into that journey. Where will it take us? Into a fantastic world of colour and shape, texture and mystery. That's what this picture does for me.

I really like this image and I'm not sure why no one else has commented on it. I did a couple of things to touch up the image to make it even stronger (in my opinion) - I straightened the horizon a bit, I removed the bird (which looked more like a dust speck to my eye), and I boosted the contrast just a bit (15). I liked your composition, the cloudy sky and the overall sense of the picture. I hope you like my minor adjustments.

What a strong image that speaks with a prophetic tone. Excellent detail and lighting - I can almost sense the dark foreboding. Really well done - this picture should be sent to every news magazine in North America.
