raquel, thank you for your comment. did you notice my son's face just to the right of the very blurry image? i thought that was pretty clear. it's all one image. taken at once, without later manipulation. guess it doesn't work. thanks again, dennis

this is a nice image. i'm an old tri-x fan and am impressed with this being a night photograph. it has good tonal range and movement. you might be interested in my color version of our flag. i wanted to express some of its more aggressive characteristics and used camera movement. what do you think? dennis

bea, thank you for the "original." i guess i'm just too old school, but i like the un-manipulated, film version the best. nice tonal values can occur in ranges of gray. still, nice either way. thank you for the comment on my portrait. she may be thinking that her left eye was damaged in a disabling car accident, and she wanted a portrait that hid that fact. she is a very interesting lady and i would love to do her justice. dennis

dennis, this is a nice image - kind of walker evans-ish. my only concern with it is that the highlights seem a little hot and the darker values, especially his shoes, have lost detail. high contrast. i wonder if a short "flash" would help pull the tones together. anyway, nice image, nice portfolio. dennis

this is a beautiful image. i like the composition, the crop, the range of tones, the dof, and the way the subject engages with the camera. a kind of soft defiance. my only criticism would be that, without a neck, her head seems to float unattached, almost like a mask. still, very nice concept and very good execution.
