Thanks Matt - that's very kind of you. Having loads of fun with my new 50 mm macro - such a versatile lense. Can be anywhere and find something interesting to shoot. Cheers.

Thanks for that. Yes I agree with all those. This was my first trip away with my DSLR - lots to learn from here. For me it's a lot about getting the natural light right and being aware of the backgrounds. Next time I am in Cuba I will hunt him down and make him stand in some good light! Really appreciate your feedback.

You have many nice portraits in your portfolio. I really like this gentlemen's charactor. You've captured it well.

I have to agree with Megan on the background. It's just a bit distracting. I might have blurred it a tad with photoshop too.

I think that I might have brightened the subjects face just a tiny bit too. He has such a wonderful face! I'd just like to see the expression in his eyes a bit more.

You have a great portfolio! Thank you for inviting me to view it!

:)Sheila

Thanks for this - the kids were really nice in The Gambia. Tried cropping another similar image down which I felt made the image stronger. What do you think?

Thanks Paolo - this kind of stuff is very rewarding - especially at times when the light is too harsh for other kinds of photography. Having loads of fun. Cheers :)

Fantastic macro... (of a familiar flower... ;-D)!! Wonderful colors, great details, fine DOF and good compo... well done!!!
I might've moved/shifted a bit before taking the shot so that the red 'spots' in the back weren't in the frame... well I might've...
BTW a shutter >5 minutes... you're sure... ;-D

It's a nice portrait, James! Just one little thing, for portrait like that, the main focus should be at face, especially eyes (the soul of the people), you got here face a little bit unfocused and scarf sharp. It's my vision.
My regards, LArissa
