Great composition and blue tones. Very mysterious.

Amazing colours but it is a bit soft.

Great tones and a nice natural abstract.

Lovely composition and mood. Shame it was shot on Superia as it will always lack detail and the colour response is a bit lacking but the great thing is that this composition shines through.

The close crop and the inclusion of the white line work really well. The colours look like Kodachrome too!

Another mind-warping landscape. The sheer field of view is almost overwhelming. Great work.

As Stephen says Chris, I'm amazed the street is clear. It's always been heaving when I've visited York. Now, as to the sky. People's comments about its vivacity has missed the key point - it's York - the sky's never blue in York, it rains 24 hours a day and floods every other week. You need a good broody black sky I reckon.

Not sure about this one. There doesn't appear to be a focal point.

Long time no see! This is a lovely shot. The softness of the foreground is beautiful and feels very Exmoor.

Thanks Carsten. Not only did I have no time but I took the shot from a cliff path nearly 100 metres above the beach! I couldn't see a way down or I'd have taken up a better position to use the high tide line as a stronger lead-in.

Kiarang, thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, using Ilford XP2 film, it's very difficult to take anything but black and white! I was using B&W film for some other night work that I was experimenting with in an attempt to get results similar to the amazing work of Michael Kenna. Check out www.michaelkenna.net to see what I mean. This shot was just something I've always wanted to try and now that I've got a fully mechanical Nikon FM2n camera I thought it was probably time to have a go.

Great shot, very creative and very effective. You could send this to Alamy (www.alamy.com) and they'd probably get quite a bit of demand for it in advertising, etc.

Thanks for the comment Chris. Yes, this was my first try. A knowledge of the heavens, as I'm an amateur astronomer, no doubt helped!

The zebras look great against the softening grass but I think I'd crop it right down and lose most of the background.

Nice light and interesting composition. Is that the Centuria 200 from the front of AP? I'm pleased you got decent colour from it - I had a feeling it would produce washed out images!

There's something very 'right' about this image. The colour combinations and the repeating shapes of the building and the correct sliver of handrail on the right. Very nice.

Oh, so he's that bloke who hasn't used Charlie's camera. I hadn't twigged that it was him! Seems like a bit of a whinger from the article they did with him - we can't have him winning. You need to pull out all the stops. I sent in a different crop of the B&W image of Bishop Rock lighthouse with the diffraction spikes and circles. I'm not expecting great results but I thought I ought to give it a go just to see what I should aim for next year.

Ah glasshopper! Nicely done, perfect DoF. Have you got your circles shot organised yet? Your win in the last round and the poor showing by the current leader must mean that you've now got a chance!

Hi Shane, yes I was surprised at the length of the star trails too. I took a 45 minute exposure the night before - see attached and didn't expect trails this long from 3 minutes but couldn't risk a longer exposure as the light from the lighthouse was already saturating the film.
