Yep. In fact, if you look closely toward the south tower, you'll see the canvas covers they use while they're painting. They never stop painting it. When they get to the end, it's time to start over again. Ain't Salt Water great?

Not bad. I think the skin tones seem a bit off as does the sharpness. Otherwise, an excellent picture.

Good sharpness. I assume you used a tripod. Did you play with other types of crops? Without your "title" I wouldn't have zero'ed in on what you were shooting for...

Can you tell me more about the Pro+ version? I'm a little reluctant to spend (I think it's $80?) but if the PS plugin works well, it may very well be worth it!

Honestly, this comparison doesn't do it justice. Having to size down to show both side by side still shows improvement, but the full-size version of these shows the real power of this software. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but when I find something as remarkable as this, I do like to share.

Hmmm. I think I'm missing it. Which girl scout pic? I like the post card idea. I didn't want to put an image on my business card because I thought it would be too small. I definitely need business cards though. Even for my "day job", it kind of establishes a little credibility. Walking up to some stranger and just telling them I'm a photographer -- I think it would have more impact if they saw I actually went to the trouble and expense of printing a card.
I can do the postcard thing myself -- I'll work on that soon. Should be fun.

What software do you use to do this sort of thing?
1) I met a girl at Starbucks tonight who was absolutely stunning. I didn't talk to her much but I'd really like to get her in my studio!
2) I'm gonna bite the bullet and get business cards and such printed up. Perhaps do a poster similar to what you do so that when I do meet someone like that in a Starbucks, on the train, on the street, etc, I can hand them my card and try to convince them to give me a ring.

I do like the fact that these turned out better than the studio chain... I've been to Olan Mills many times, both as a child and as an adult and as chains go, they're better than most. The Picture People is a pure volume play -- the more people the fly through there the better. We take advantage of them all the time because there's always a "Free sitting + 1 free 8x10" and we don't buy anything -- we just take the free picture.
I used to run another company a while back doing car electronics type stuff -- cell phones, alarms, stereos, etc. There's a market for both -- volume and high-end and I'd like to do this more professionally and charge more for it, but do far fewer shoots. I'm much more interested in the *quality* of the pictures than the revenue.
Of the shoot I did last night, I printed up probably 20 sheets on 8.5x11 for her -- lots of 8x10s, 5x7s and such. She was thrilled. I didn't charge her anything because she's a good friend of ours, but as it turns out she offered to pay (via my wife) and my wife turned her down. I was just telling her, I don't mind doing this for free, but it'd be nice for her to kick in some money for ink, paper, etc. Ah well.

I agree -- could have used more light. I was thinking about buying a snoot for one of my monolights thinking that if I had only directed at least a little light to her face, this would have made all the difference in the world. I like the "low key" effect, but I have a lot of learning to do with regard to lighting. I'm having a blast with it though!
