All that time giving you evils while you paused and took a photo with nonchalance. The dark heart of bug.

maybe not more sky but the overoexposed white in the centre detracts from the overall atmosphere of the shot. Maybe a lower viewpoint would work to make the birds more evident, I don't know. Also, in scenes like this I shoot a lot of exposures to allow choice of a dramatic sea.. Good though. 5/7

Well spotted Paul, a good capture that grabs the attention. The rooftops in the background are good as they add the sense of realisation of scale. What on earth was it?

Heee, heee! =P Sometimes, its the candid ones that turn out great! Skewed angle works with this image. I prefer having the Boxer's face to be in focus rather than the legs, but you got to make do with what you can get.

Paul, I think you've captured the desolateness excellently. The rather harsh contrast between the whites of the surf and the blackness of the log on the beach, and the sense of high winds make it look very forbidding. Without the dunes on the right, I think the mood and the desolation would have been even stronger depicted. The image seems a bit dull (tone wise, that is) and could have been a bit sharper. But on the other hand, both doe enhance the atmosphere..... Hard to decide.... As for the desolateness, I think it is brilliantly captured; hence the rating....
Cheers,
Hugo

This is a pretty shot Paul, but it suffers from too much contrast. I think you should take it down a ways and it would make a nice improvement. (the vodka sounds good and ya gotta have the camera, but that leaves no hand free for a lady)
