I agree with you. Possible improvements: don't crop part of the top-right and bottom-right windows. Well done!

Mattias, as most of the stones on the world are in the Northern hemisphere, clearly the south is lighter and prefers to be on top. Your map-makers of the north got it wrong (again)... ! :-)

Taras, you are right about the exposure, but this was exposed for 1 second already, and I didn't want motion blur to become a factor (the Moon could be seen creeping along in the viewfinder!).

Thanks Andrew!
I should confess that this is actually a composite - I only had my digital P&S with me at the time (and you know how fast these colours change!), so I took a quick photo to get the sky as it was, and then raced home and took a decent photo of the Moon with a longer lens (and tripod). Still, the 2 photos were taken within 30 minutes of each other, and (as you can verify) the composite does accurately reproduce the scene :-)
So, it is not for the purists, but I long ago gave up being a purist in favour of presenting a scene as I saw it...
Thank you - and everybody - for your comments!

The 10D is very good - it is not a 1D of course, but it has a lot of very useful features - like mirror lock-up, for example. I've been very happy with it! I do miss a full-frame sensor though, as I love my ultra-wides, and I also like to have shallow DOF sometimes (both of which the smaller sensor fights against!!).

Sérgio, thank you for the kind words, but I realised after you commented that I had given incorrect information - it wasn't shot with a Canon G2 as I first listed, but with a 10D & 500mm f/8 mirror lens. Perhaps this could better explain the clarity in the Moon?! :-) Sorry for the mis-information, you were too quick for me!!

I have seen this pose before, but overall it is original (top marks to the model for achieving it!). However, the background does not thrill me at all - it is much too much of a distraction IMO.

Paul, I was already thinking about making a high- to ultrahigh-contrast version of this anyway, so we are thinking along the same lines here... The light & shadow is the main feature, so more contrast would be worth looking into!

Thanks Ian, I appreciate all input. I rather like the thorns myself, although I see what you mean. As to the leaf, yes: maybe I should have cropped it out. What I liked about this image is the U-shaped frame of blurred leaves below, kind of framing the rose.

A nice model (which never hurts)... I like her expression & pose, but the lighting looks a bit flat (for such a portrait, I mean: she's posed in a glamourous style, so a lack of glamourous lighting shows up more that it would otherwise (IMO). Overall, quite nice...

Murat, thanks!
Kita, pardon? I guess that you were confused with the title (am I right?). Explanation: the ripples on the water are creating interference patterns, but the waves themselves are unimpeded by this effect... Thanks for your comment!

Hi Ray, I can see the tower all the way to the top - are you sure your monitor is set at its optimal contrast? This was taken in available light, and I really like the way it came out. I did take some at an earlier time, but this is better (I think). Thanks for commenting.
