Bobot, these men are all from Xinjiang, the far west of China. They're Chinese citizens, but ethnically, they're muslim Uighurs, the ethnic majority in Xinjiang.

Xinjiang is indeed an interesting place to visit.

Yes indeed, i think you chose a good one to present this amazing bridge, you have composed the picture very well with the inclusion of its surrounding. Amazing view point, it makes me want to look at the details, interesting!
now I hope to see it on the inside because of the abouts you have wrote about it.
I really envy you documenting these hidden China.., my grandfather comes from the mainland. Someday I'll see China.
best regards..

Thank you for a wonderful shot and a very interesting and detailed account of the scene. I think the composition is excellent, however it occurs to me that this is an opportune time for a pano shot, long and narrow. Regards, Debra

Hi Mike. Thanks for the comment.

As for these boys smoking, well... the attitude towards smoking in China is much different than the current attitude in western countries. It's just something men (and some women) do here, and it seems that they start at it as young as anywhere else. I suppose these boys could light those firecrackers with just a lighter, but why not kill two birds with one stone?

Very nicely execution and presentation of this wonderful series.
Great about that really gives you a feel for the celebration.
It is a tragedy about them having to smoke to be able to light them!
