Hi Sascha... I havent tried it in black and white, I just think the colours in this part of China are too rich to do that.
Thanks for the comment ~ James

Beautiful greens in this shot, James! Quite the contrast to your recent desert shots too. Certainly vibrant greens of spring/summer here. Cheers, Gary

Spasibo Valerii. U menya stepen' bakalavra Russkii yazik, no ya ne govoril po russkii chasto. Poslednii raz 2006 :-(
Ya puteshestvoval vokrug Rossii ranshe, v Moskve, v Peterburg, v Kazane, v Udmurtii .... Ochen' krasivaya strana - Rossiya.
Regarding this photo, while I only spent one hour and a little bit in this area, I was actually out in other parts for about 7 hours in total, returning to Dunhuang in the afternoon, tired and hot. But it was a good day.
Thanks for the comment, and I will enjoy looking at more of your work. It really is very interesting ~ James

To stay for only 10 minutes at a favourable time with a bunch of photo dudes or for a whole day all alone in a place of your choice which is not touched by fellow photographers but with a blazing sun above... I'd take the second. HDR can deal with that sun but who can deal with the lack of time and a crowd of quickies.
All the same - you've got wonderful images there. Virgin sands, with no footprints! And the remnants of History itself!
Valerij
I appreciated your Russian skills!

Hi Jerry. I had no idea the time would be so limited. There were only a handful of people there so there was certainly no reason to rush... but they did. At any rate, as you said, I made good use of the limited time.
Thanks for the comment ~ James

Hi Dan. This is right on the outer edge of a large graveyard outside Dunhuang. Continue straight in the direction I'm facing here (south) and who knows where you'll end up. Almost noone ventures out that way, the only exceptions (as far as I know) being some overnight trekkers from time to time, and a few 4X4 vehicles that come out that way.
