Hi Bill,

A classic partial view of a sunflower, and by the looks of it a very well captured photo. the exposure is spot on, and the details and structures in the petals are well preserved. The partial view is good, it adds the appeal to this photo.

I do think this photo falters a bit in the post processing and composition; I think it could use a boost in the red levels, as well as a bit more punch in the sky, to emphasise the contrast.

As to the composition, the center of the flower almost coincides with the horizontal centerline, but not completely. Also, the edge of the image clips the outer periphery of the flower. I think placing it more extremely towards the top right, and allowing a bit more space below would fix that, as well as emphasise the diagonal.

Hope you see what I mean,

Cheers,

Hugo

Nice image. Close enough to be intimate but, not crowded. This a nice sense of light that's not hard on the eye. I wonder how it would look with a warmer but less saturated blue for the sky. Good luck with the farm.

Hi Bill, powerful shot, with a great contrast between the approaching thunderstorm and the calm and relaxed beach scene. Great scene, and well captured!

Cheers,

Hugo

Thanks for the comment ... I shot this at 1/125 f14 ISO200(digital) with the lens at about 25mm ( i think i reported the wrong lens on the info sheet - i used a Sigma 15-30)

well captured, and good timing! Besides the nice clouds and lightning beam, the picture is also enjoyable because of the contrasting brigth colors on the foreground to the three layers of grayish clouds-water-sand. If I was there I would get out of there too...

I like your photo a lot. If I were driving down the picture, I think I'd feel like I was driving into the slot of a coin-operated machine. The atmosphere, composition, and quality are great.

Just like expression lines on a person's face, this tree shows alot of expression through the texture of the flakey bark and deep lines. However I think the shape of the branches would stand out even more if the background was plain. Otherwise a good picture and a good subject.

Well done, Bill. A really sharp shot. This is the kind I've been striving for with my non IS 70-200mm 2.8L glass. If you get a chance, take a look at my "Photo Quiz" post.
