Actually I did not have access to a star filter so I used a trick I learned this last sememster and just closed my aperature all the way down to the minimum and then during development reduced the developer time by 30% to tone down the highlights which in turn resulted in the beautiful starbursts you see. Thanks for your comments! They inspire to experiment further!

Brett, what a great shot! And they clame an industrial landscape cannot be beautiful! The star filter effect works excellently. I like the print; it is very clear, high in detail, and very well balanced. The slow shutterspeed works miracles on the smoke / fumes from the exhaust. Impressive shot, my compliments.... Into my favorites!

Cheers,

Hugo

I actually did use a red filter, or maybe it was yellow, cant remember, but I was experimenting with filters that day and the clouds were my perfect target. I have a few shots of this same composition without a filter and the sky is so washed you cant make much out. I may give the Ilford a try as well since the Tri-X is really all I have used so far, thanks for the advice!

This is well done... Have you ever thought of using a red filter? I think you'd be very happy with the results, as it would work very well with this sort of shot. I love the feel of this photo... composition is excellent... and the grain is fantastic!!! I'm big on grain. Oh, one more thing, try using Ilford Delta 400 or Delta 3200 and throw away any Kodak b&w. Almost all Tri-X films are just too milky.
