Just a little over-exposed on the nose, but still very nicely done. Yes, the eyelight really defines this shot.
Is this more what you'd hoped for?
I did this by going into Photoshop | Layers | New Adjustment Layer | Levels.
There, I chose the color dropper for the whites and chose a part of his fur as the basis for the whitest part of the photo.
