I thought of getting some of these to photograph but never did, guess I'll re-think that. Great shot and color tones. A little bright, but that could be just be my monitor. Cheers,

Nothing like velvia to bring out those colors. Excellent angle on this shot.

I agree, For some reason it seems like there is something missing. Maybe it's the bright background.

I hope you don't mind but I borrowed your photo too see if I could help. I was able to sharpen it a great deal without too much loss of quality except for where the green and the pink hues combine around the edges of the leaf. I don't have PS elements just the old photo deluxe program. Try using the UNSHARP MASK option, it will allow a greater amount of control over how much sharpening is achieved. Hope this helps.

Just downloaded the plugin. Think I'll try it out tomorrow it looks very useful. By the way your shots are getting better every time.

I like the way the subject is coming out of the frame. I think I'll try that idea today. Nice one!!

Excellent work!! The exposure is perfect for the scene. The tiger coming from the top right down into the water, the reflection (a huge +), and the calm mood of the whole scene is great. Well done!!

I think the way you framed this is very creative compared to the centered flower most of us make. You managed to use to your advantage what could of been a little too much background while still drawing attention to the subject.

I really like this one. I think it's because most flower/water shots always have black water but yours is a nice nuetral gray tone. DOF is here also good.

Nice capture! This rose has a more lively look than most other rose photos. The pink and yellow colors make come alive.

I was directed to your portfolio from the forums section. I would like to comment on all of your photos as they are all top quality flower pics IMO. I was looking for a little inspiration and a few new ideas and your photos have given me a lot in that area. I think the color contrast in this one is perfect. The yellow draws ones attention and highlights the contour of the iris very well.

This is very good lighting. The petals blend into the background nicely. Also like the softened edges too.

I think your onto a cool subject here. Cropped a little too much on the top but otherwise a nice shot.

I viewed nearly all of your flower photos. Pretty good work for someone new to flower photography. I think this is your best so far. The petals all have some amount of light falling on them. It's a fairly soft lighting with no burnout spots or really dark areas. The background is also very nicely done, the top left of it is dark contrasting the lighter petals and the bottom right is slightly lighter contrasting the darker petals. Well done!!

Nice floral shot! Usually the stem is the hardest thing to get to look right, but yours fades into the black instead of just straight to the bottom of the photo.

I think the main attraction of this one is how the soft black seperates the deep reds throughout the whole photo. Also everything seems to blend nicely into the background. Superb use of light.

Extremely well done!!! Very bright, intense color and yet it still shows plenty of detail. Also the way the center droops toward the bottom to show the green in it is perfect.

Excellent shot! The subject is not burnt out as is usually the case with a macro photo using a flash. Sharp well composed, and very colorful.

I find that fuji 100 & 200 seem to be geared toward a warmer tone. Also my local lab rarely prints fuji the right way, maybe it's just the lab. Good luck!

I agree with steve. I have an elephant shot in my folder here at usefilm where I cropped around the facial features and it turned out ok. The small area is a little distracting but not a really big deal.

I'm a PS amatuer myself. I have been photographing flowers for 2 years so I'll suggest a few things that might help. Bright, full colored flowers tend to burn out easily when photographed so try to pick a flower with a slightly colored edge to the petals. Also pink, cyan, violet, dirty yellow, or flowers with a more secondary color tone seem to show more detail due to their color contrast. Also try side lighting to cast a shadow when all else fails. None of this is written stone though, Good luck.
