Wonderful tones and depth of field and an imaginiative crop. Well done! Nick

Nice shot, but the overexposed window light is distracting. Maybe try burning it out, or cropping to restore the focus onto the sleepy subject - Nick

hi Tim, a remarkable shot for handheld! My recent aurora shots were 30 secs on tripod and I found it hard to keep them sharp! best, Nick

wonderful colours and a dramatic sky make this shot a winner. Excellent clarity in the sand.

Thanks for the comment Ali. The houses are not just ON the rock, they are ANCHORED to it by strong cables. Quite often devastating winds called piteraq's cascade off the icecap at speeds of 160 MPH!

Thanks Danny - the inuit are very photogenic people but extremely quiet so it takes a while living with them in order to photograph them naturally. Below is another shot of this girl and her friend.

I cannot fathom usefilm.com rating system. I guess thumbnails under the critique don't do justice to photos that need to be viewed big!

This is the kind of shot I like Danny. I love the sky reflection in the water and the ambiguous scale (or lack of it!). That is my style too! maybe would benefit from a bit more sharpening?

I like this one Kim. Very well composed. Reminds me of the bear of an inuit dog I met this summer:

Kim

Thanks for your comments. I just took a browse through your collection here on usefilm - you have a good eye for warm colours!

Cheers

I like this shot Danny. Plenty of interest in the foreground and background and nice lead in with the wall. How about emulating a red filter in PS to see what the green tones look like in a more accentuated way? Good luck, Nick

but this one is wonderful George! This must be the first shot of formation flying seagulls. Sharp, well composed, nice blue sky and the bird in the centre right top looks like he has his eye on you

Hi Oguz

Is this your best photograph? What exactly were you aiming to capture with this? The picture is slightly skewed to the right. Try a slow shutter and capture some movement in the car. The picture would tell a story then - is it getting away down an alley?

yes, a nice car, but the exotic metail is offset badly by the not-very-exotic pedestrian in the background! Maybe throw the backround out with a wider aperture or lie on the ground for an angry low angle shot of the motor, but beware of strange looks, or dogs, or worse...

Thanks Jude. It's funny that when I go through my old photo archives, suddenly I find a shot that was overlooked. This is one such shot and I'm glad it is popular. The black line at the bottom is real - it is a vast plateau of lava flows.

The scenery is so awesomely hostile, sometimes the only place to look is up. Here is a pic of the area to show what I mean! Nick

Hi,

I'd crop right in on that blue pool - the strip of land at the top isn't half as interesting!
