Larry....Water Lillies are so beautiful. Very hard to photograph, though. You have done a good job here. Would like to have seen a bit more clarity, and perhaps more color in the water. It almost looks like the lily and pads are floating in mid air. Ranae

Dawna, Being a complete amateur I shot this picture with a Samsung 35mm automatic which I have since replaced. And I have since learned the essentials that you suggest. But since I no longer live in Oregon I no longer have access to that site. Your detailed response is much appreciated. Thank you.

A rather nicely done image but a few things jump out at me - first of all, the date stamp! turn that off on your camera asap - or at the very least, clone it out for uploading. Nice idea as far as the composition goes, but i think I would have composed with the grass a little less predominant in the shot - its about at a half and half ratio now, perhaps 2/3 scenic and 1/3 grass composition would allow the lighthouse to stand out a little more. The color saturation and exposure seems to be quite nicely handles, but the sharpness is suffering a little. Without knowing shutter speed and aperture and whether you used a tripod, its difficult to make suggestions....

Anne, Actually it was drift wood. And no I had never tried cropping. It has an interesting effect. But I can only post one pic a day. And that camera is long gone, no more date stamps. Thanks for your response. It was much appreciated.
Vicki, I have tried the cropping with interesting results. Thank you for your kind response.

A very nice capture. I agree about cropping, but no more than 1/4 of the bottom. The rock doesn't bother me, because it is there! Well done.

Nice shot, but have you thought of cropping some of the grass and that white rock (?) about two thirds down? I hope you have learnt how to turn the date off now. Nice colours and lighting. Gentle appeal.

Leslie, Thank you. This was taken with a rather cheap camera and I have some of the same concerns that you have. I lived several years at this place and the color in the trees was never again as good. So I missed the opportunity to improve the shot.
Francesco Thank you.
Theresia, We used to swim in the river under this bridge. It is a fabulous place.

this is a good composition with an excellent perspective through the covered bridge....your colors are good and the lighting seems good.... a bit harsh in the sky maybe..but overall it is good...I'd like to see the image a bit sharper but certainly is a beautiful scene
