Having just been to Yosemite 3 weeks ago, I share your enthusiasm. I only wish I had more shots like this one to bring back with me. But none of my shots came even close to capturing the true beauty of the place like this one does. Great Job!

I like the sense of seclusion and calm suggested through the softening effect of the long exposure.

I am very interested to know how you lighted this shot?? I am interested in lighting a scene similiar (but with a softer effect of the lighting). Otherwise, I am an amateur dabbling in portraiture who is very intrigued by this shot.

Thanks

Isaac

The image stitched together is too much information without a focal point. With fires, especially not terribly fiery ones at night, it is best to focus on people, or one dramatic element per shot. Keep trying though, you had good exposure. Be careful, fires can be addictive.

Christopher,

I was worried when I first saw this shot I thought the ladders were melting. Now I understand why they look this way with the stiching of the frames together. Pretty cool shot over-all. I like the lighting.

Later my friend,

Russ

This image was taken with out a trypod and was three frams I merged into one using photoshop. The size does not do it justice. Her is another image from the same fire

Christopher,

This is a great shot, excellent work. Try converting it to B&W and see what effect that gives, I think you will like it.

Agree with Jordi : beautiful photo (9!) but could maybe be better without the shapes on the ground (the tree doesn't disturb me a lot...)
