Excellent composition. B&W rendering makes for a very strong photo. I love these old warbirds - one of my favorite subjects. Well done, David.

David,

I want to give a yell for old cameras and light leaks. I read once that the appeal of "rough" cameras is the openess to serendipitous shots when working with them and I think it is true and makes for remarkable work. While trying to find my quote (which I didn't succeed at), I found another good quote regarding "rough" cameras:

"a tool that permits little control when taking the picture and so allows for (indeed, necessitates) a more spontaneous and intuitive approach to making photographs."

is desirable imo

It has a certain charm, David. I have an old folder that shoots a lot like this, makes great pictures with a look all their own. I like the composition here, and I think the highlights on the bridge are really fine. My one nit about the whole thing is your shadow. Don't you hate when that happens? Still, I like this, and look forward to saeeing more.

Nice, but it's a B-24 Liberator. The Mitchell is the B-25. I know...nitpicking...

Nice shot. It seems a little blurry, but that's probably because you shot it from your hip! What is that in the upper right corner? It is very interesting...

No, your not a condescending jerk Jonathan. Growing as a photographer is about accepting critism - and your is valid and useful. The problem was that I had the flash on and the bright reflection of the flash is in the window just at the top of his head, so I had to crop it there. Also, it was a night and even with the flash, the f/11 lens on my pocket Epic just couldn't get enough light to the HP5. Nevertheless, he was a good sport about it and I have him 5 bucks!

This is almost a fantastic image. The problems for me are these: you cropped (either in the camera or in the darkroom) much too tight. I would have left some space above his head and below his chair. I'm not sure whether I would have centered him or not. Also it would be a good thing to notice lines and shapes in the background to further your total composition. Also this is not a great print. It's muddy and flat. I'm not trying to be a condescending jerk. This image really had great potential.

Well I think this is cool. I'm surprised it hasen't gotten any comments. I especially like the blown out look at the top. The composition gives the perfect NYC feel.

David, I like the lines in this shot. Almost could be called abstract. I would be tempted to crop out the small circle in the bottom-center of the photo. keep em coming!
