you'd look the correct way round if you just flip this horizontally in Photoshop. With this cheat, people would definitely ask 'hey how did you do this?'. hehe.

Other than congratulating you on the examplary metering of this scene, I have a question: did you wait for someone to go towards that door in anticipation, or did you just happen to notice the beautiful light effect and shot?

This shot shows the optical beauty and excellence of Pentax glass, even when the 50mm 1.2 is not known to be the sharpest of the Pentax standard lenses. Want a glass similar to Zeiss but cost effective? Use Pentax.
Even if this is an autobiographic shot, the title seem a bit lost with little to do with the photography subject. Perhaps you could call it 'Lonely Bench', but even so, the picture narrates little to me.

I suppose you can't go any lower than this, because I'd have given that a try because that may give a more dynamic angle. But I can imagine by going lower means that the face of that girl would've been blocked by her colleague.
About cropping this, I wouldn't too. With this full frame the context narrates to the viewer the story. When it gets too tight the story would be lost. As it is now, my eyes immediately locks into the face of the girl, and then slowly moves away to the fabric works on the left of the frame.
TEchnically, the focus seem to be just behind the face of the girl, but I won't fault this, I can imagine that the workshop is much darker than this.

It's an intriguing composition for sure. There is a touch of a story here, and leaves quite a bit to the imagination. I like the size perspective by including the dude in the deck chair. It is cool seeing all the freighters in the background. There is a very noticeable tilt that should be corrected, even if it means that deck chair dude now sits at a slant. Makes for a good photojournalistic shot. JB

Thanks for the comment Andrew. I tryed different crops on the left, but finally I reverted to this one that is I think the strongest. The line on the lower left corner is interesting, and when broken, the image is more difficult to read. Also, I like To give these gigantic machines 2/3 of the space in the picture, whereas the girls only had very little space to work with, between the machine and the wall.
The lighting was really poor, and hopefully I could catch the middle girl's pleasing expression to focus on. Only lighting was a plain old bulb above their head about 1.5 to 2 above, and that's it. The other problem was to take the picture when the boss of the fabric was not looking at me so it had to be quick !

Yes, all too sadly there are places on earth where child labor laws are non-existent. I really like the composition, but I think a tighter crop taking out some the empty space on the left side would be a bit more effective. It must have been extraordinarily dark in there to have been only able to an exposure of 1/30 and f/1.4 with 800 speed film. Good job getting the shot under such circumstances.

I know it would have been far better to get more DOF, but at that time I didn't had a tripod with me and I urgely needed to take that photo at that precise moment.
Technically I find it very poor, but it's something more personnal and I was in the mood to do it like that. I wouldn' change a thing. The other problem is that it was taken during an heavy, windy rain shower without an umbrella and the whole camera and lens where getting so wet that I had to clean the lens just before firing the shutter !
I founded very interesting to submit it for critique here and see what people that dont know me think of it, although I hesitated a lot. The only one print - it was a gift - has proven to be talked about at times and that surprised me because I really didn't liked it a lot.
Thanks a lot for your comments.

The dof seems fine, but the first thought looking at this was "bar". All I saw was the back of the bench, centered in the image. Too bad too, that the car had to be right behind it. Overall, the image is not really that interesting, it would have been more so, I think, if the bench were the complete focus subject and for that purpose, cropping a bunch of the top might work. All personal preference of course .

Not only is this your best upload so far, but it is a really fantastic shot... What a light ! I love the tall framing and the way the person disappears gently in the light, as well as the real sense of action. Really top-class to me. Congrats !

Nice usage of the dof. and i somewhat like the reflections, even thought it can be a distraction.
and having the bench slanted in an angle, hmmmm, i dont really like it either.
If i were to approach this image, i would maybe shoot it from a farther distance....so to create a more sense of Alone. I do like your intended idea.

very nice idea, what i would suggest is to try to avoid those light reflections on the floor and the bench... maybe changing the angle of the shot a little bit would make the reflection dissapear...
