Excellent sky shot. Makes one think they are there. Thank you fir your kind comments on my shots. To explain the "Sepia Barn", To the left was a modern granery that I was eliminating. I also tried to capture DOF on right. Also there is a differnce of opinion about centering the main focal point of interest. Your commets areappreciated. i have tons of pictures, unfortunatly, The scans don't do the pictures justice by the time I re route them to this site. Still learning!

Water looks like molten lava the way it flows. Super shot. Adding a rendition of the house you commented on in my portfolio. Gave it a dawn feel.

ooooh! This is nice! I have an old brownie that is taped together with duct tape. The right side of this picture from the last column going right looks soft.
Excellent picture!

I too saw this lunar eclipse but had film in my 2 cameras which were not the right speed. I have not used digital, probably because I still use old cameras. This is a great shot. My moon pictures never seem to work out.

Thanks for your comments on my geranium. I see what you mean. In my Jasc PS I do have unsharp mask and I have played with it but still does not clear the picture. Perhaps the Jasc is not that great. I should think about getting "Neatimage". The person who scans them for me has a negative option but she cannot get it to work so she simply sscans the 4x6 photo. Also, should she send via bitmap and then, after I play with it, convert it to jpg?
Your picture is very very beautiful. the comments about focus from some viewers is "bullcookies" Love this shot! Cheers

Thanks for the comments. The scanner I have use of is not the best quality and when I crop in PS the focus does get blurry. but some thoughts come out. If you look at the light dot in the bottom window opening (which comes from a hole in the wall inside looking out) and focus on it you get a different overview. OOOOOOOH!!!! OR, maybe it is the eye of the one eyed hermitghost that lives in the house. Pull the covers up a little tighter my friends

As requested, I am looking at the picture. It is very colorful. My taste lies in natural pictures and if you have looked at my portfolio, I have a passion for old buildings and such. Too bad I do not have a better scanner as my product looks washed out in the pictures I submit

Mary Sue, I thank you for your comment on my "reformed smoker". My significant other took this snapshot to backup your intuition about the shot. At the time it was taken, I was a Mangaer of a large Financial Institution up here in Canda eh! I had to complete 34 staff reports that weekend and get away from phones and contact. Although there was quality time I did accomplish my mission over 3 days. I have made many changes in my life and one of them was moving from Vancouver back to a small prairie town (POP 632) and I am now a mobile Investment Broker. Should have done it years ago.
I now enjoy hiking, phototaking and when I am in the mood, working on a book.
You are a psychic, perhaps? Did you see the geranium I posted this morning? The green background is a blur of the lawn next to my home. I liked your clothes pegs. As you attest, the pegs could use some more focus. I like it. Cheers

Thank you for your comments Rachelle. For this bloom I prefer the centering. I agree that most subjects should be off centre a I have learned. this particular photo was done up for a birthday card by a friend who saw it. I tactually looked great with a raised mat on the front of the card.

Thank you for your comment. As I have learned on this site, sometimes it is okay to centre the main focus I wanted to capture the bud on the left and the greenery. Making it bigger is not a problem. I cropped this one

What I did in PaintShop Pro was to add sharpness, added "skin tone" and increased contrast. The original shot, au naturelle, showed the drabnes of the buildness. In other words, it has not been painted for over 50 years. The name of the graon company that is painted onto these elevators, was barely visable. There is a town in Manitoba where they have 4 elevators, no longer in use, that are being restored for historic preservation. I understand that a flock of photographers go ther to capture them. Why invent the wheel. I prefer solitary structures.

Very much a mood shot, and it certainly does capture a mood of tranquility. I woul like it more if the yellow sign on the building was out of the picture by putting it to greyscale, perhaps.

Nice capture in that you kept the focus for the whole frame. I seem to encounter difficulties with my camera either losing background to foreground. and vice versa

No I have never used filters. After seeing my comments and other comments on other photographers, I should read up on them and experiment. I probably would not use filters on B/W buildings as I have always been drawn to black sketches of such topics.

Thanks Vince. Now I am confused. Many times I have been advised not to have the topic dead center. Is there a time when a picture should be centered? By the way, your photos are excellent.

Awesome Debbie. Not sure how you did this in PS. I have Jasc Paint Shop Pro and I don't think I have the capability of creating this effect. I have only been on this site for a month and since, I have changed my way of taking pictures. Also with added PS sotware I have been spending hours in the evening learning how to use the program to hone any skills I might have. Thanks for your very positive commeents on my work.

Nice setting Chris. Wonder what kind of effect this would take on if you were taking this lower down, and bringing horixon into it. In other words not making the pier the whole focal point of this scene.

Actually no, I can't because photo Paint crop can only crop horizontal and vertival. Because it is a oval tweak, it shows this way. Lets's just call the grey..... Matted! :>)

I have notreally done a lot of shots using breathing humanoids but this is great. Reminds me of the pictures that used to be in Life magazine. Some day I will get into this. Is this a self portrait? Relook at my "This Old House" that you commented on. I attached a cropped picture to take the building (on the left) out. I agree with your comment about the intrusion.

Ah my mentor! Thanks Heather. Throught Usefilm I am learning and I am flexible if I think the critique is valid, in my view. You are right, the original would make the viewer wonder what the intrusion was so I cropped it. What, no comment on horizon or centering :>) So how does it look now my friend.
