I realise this discussion was commenced many years ago, but I'd like to add my bit... I think there are different types of people-those that find the joy in the details, and those that have the gift of seeing the big picture. Personally I like to get up close to examine the detail,(as in your panda portraits) I find the white area up the top of the uncropped version grabs my attention and gets in the way of me digesting the detail. You have covered both types by presenting both images, and started a stimulating conversation as well. CC

Another stunning image. I love the abstract feel here. The white horizontal bits, can't figure out what they are. Are they ripples created by insects?? or plants?? CC

I was just noticing the cat's coat. Usually tabby cats have stripes, but it looks like this coat has a uniform colouring. It looks very much like the last remaining kitten my German Shepherd raised, who also has lost her stripes. Do you have any other photos of her coat? CC

This is so cute. I have never seen one of these sand cat kittens before. I cannot tell how big it is. Is it a wild or domesticated animal? CC

This has really touched me. This young lad looks about the age of my son the day his friends all got together to plan his eulogy. They sang this song at his funeral, it was his favourite. He was 19. This afternoon I was quietly asking my son for a gentle reminder that he's OK. That usually results in me hearing this song on the radio. Tonight you have obliged and inadvertantly delivered a message to a grateful mum. Thankyou. CC

I don't believe it! The sun is shining, the koala is awake. It is even doing something remotely interesting. I have lived on this continent all my life, I am yet to get a photograph of a koala doing anything but sleeping. Great shot, what is your secret? PS they say that koalas sleep all the time because they dine exclusively on eucalyptus leaves and are permananetly intoxicated! Maybe it is just folklore, or maybe you have dispelled the theory- he looks very alert. CC

Best birds in the world! Have hand a raised a few, they make devoted companions, but they are so noisy! We have a child care centre and once the children get excited the birds get so excited and noisy we can't talk over them. Our first lorikeet loved to finish off the little containers of stewed fruit that the children left. It would then parade around with the container on its head like an oversized hat. Kept the children in hysterics. I have been unable to photograph them as clearly as you have, they look much better in their natural state than behind bars. Aren't their colours just devine? CC
