Jacob this is (IMO) the best of the group. Awesome tones and perfect B&W conversion. Desiree is pretty and has such a natural smile . . . and your range here from the dark to the light is very good. A little overexposed on the lower left shirt . . . but the payoff is the perfectly balanced tones in the face - even nicer with the dappled light. Nicely done my friend!

Cool shot again . . . Man, that's some kind of wand . . . with one of those I might STILL be a wizard. When I was a kid we had to use sticks and pretend they were wands. Heck, I even had to pretend to have the stick! Hehehehee.

LoL! LOVE the expression captured here . . . it looks like the expression I'd expect if you told her she just made a dodecagon!!! Heheheheee . . . Ooooh - Oooooooh! MY turn.

---- E ---- H -----

I just made TWO dodecagons! Uppercase outlines of the letters 'E' and 'H' are dodecagons . . . of course . . . she made a regular one so . . .

Fun stuff . . . priceless capture of the expression.

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

I do, too, Shirley...this little girl has some of the most beautiful eyes I've seen on a child. :-)

Thanks a lot, Dave. I had to do a lot of tonal adjustment in Post to get the train where it is. Stock, it was WAY to predominant and overpowered the entire image. I'm glad you approve of the results! :-D

Nicely framed in the cab of the train, Jacob! A great expression, and you've got beautiful b/w tones here.

Thanks a lot, Doyle! I've never been a giant fan of high key, but probably because I've never been able to pull it off the way I want. Perhaps I just need more practice.

Thanks for the view and comment! :-)

Wonderful conversion and a really well composed image. The eyes are perfect. This might have been a good candidate for a high key artistic study too! Wonderful work.

Thanks a lot, Marco!

I used the same technique I normally use. (all directions given for PS2)

1.)duplicate layer
2.)set blending mode of duplicate layer to "color"
3.)create a channel mixer layer with monochrome checked and adjust channels as desired
4.) adjust hue saturation of "color mode" layer for fine tonal adjustments

I use this method, often with many masks to adjust tones in the image as desired.

:-)

Jake, I really like this portrait. Good crop and good conversion to B&W. What technique did you use to make the conversion?
