Critiques From Who Kares

Hey A.T. The depth of field on the photo is purely optical. It's one of the properties of the excellent Canon 50mm f1.8 II lens. Actually if I remember right, this shot was taken at f2.8. You should see shots taken at f1.8 with the same lens. Thanks for your comment.

Probably with less sea at the bottom and much more sky at the top of the frame would make this a better somposition. As it stands, the subjects seem like they can't breathe in between so much water. Also, the 2 individuals at the center of the frame seem overexposed.

Nice colors. I think the composition would be stronger if the butterfly wasnt so near the center. The shallow DoF looks good, and I think with the lens you were, it doesn't get any shallower - ebven though a shallower DoF would help more to emphasize the butterfly. Finally, I think you could get better color saturation without so many over-exposed areas if you would stop down your lens by 1/2 or a full stop.

I think the composition could be more interesting, connecting the viewer with the subject better. Interesting capture.

Not sure about this one. The post-processing does not seem to be helping an otherwise elegantly composed scenery. Would be interesting to see the real version. Cheers.

Nice composition, but the camera's focus point seems to be somewhere to the right of the viewer's focus point. That would work if there was more DoF to accomodate the spots in the middle of the frame in full. Cheers.

Nice scenery. The photo seems to need a bit more sharpness. A wider angle composition from a closer distance would make the shot more powerful in my opinion. Nice colors.

The sky seems to be a bit over-exposed. The shot is a bit too dark where the subject is. Composition is very nice.

Excellent! Maybe a little more sharpness could help.

Excellent work. Very interesting and pleasant. Nice pastel tones. WHat hte shot lacks is a subject that would embed nicely into this composition.

The horizon is a bit off. The scenery is pretty nice. The photo lacks sharpness somehow. Maybe a warmer color composition could also help. The dirtroad could make for a very nice lead into the sea and horizon if composed accordingly.

Difficult shot. Too much detail was lost in the shadows and the sky is blown-out. Maybe a gradient (neutral-gray) filter would have helped to get a better exposure. The composition is interesting.

Very funny. Great compoeition. A wider angle would have worked as well, including the whole model. Nice capture!

Nice colors. Would have liked to see more detailed on the center circle of the sunflower. It's a bit too black for me. The green leaves add to the color composition nicely. Nice capture!

A wider angle and a full composition (including the people in their entirity) would make this a more powerful shot I believe. Other than that, it's an interesting scene. Regards.

Great shot. The foreground is a bitt too much for me. Maybe bringing the bird nearer to the lower right corner would enhance the composition. Regards.

Excellent work. I like the light-B&W composition. I can't spot any blown-out whites. Very interesting composition. Great work. Regards.

Very good. I would crop it a bit more carefully on the sides. The tiny partial tree that is visible on the right is a bit distracting. Nice and inventive composition otherwise.

Great capture. There are some burned highlights (over-exposed) but great nevertheless.

This is one cool shot! I like the crop as well. Adds to the composition. Great job overall. Looks like iChair by Apple :-)
