Hi Kshitiz,
I actually prefer this shot to your cropped one. I like the bike in the distance, it almost looks like the person in the foreground is looking at the cyclist in the distance and wishing they were young again and could travel in an easier fashion. The bike also provides a sight line connection between the various parts of the picture - we start in the lower right with the strong image of the hunched over person walking but then our eye follows their sightline to the left top corner where the bike is - the bike is moving into the frame thus our eyes travel along the surf and beach back to the old person. I like how this all works together. Nicely done. If I were to crop out anything it might be to crop out some of the sky, I don't think you need quite so much space above the two characters in the photo, and it might keep the eye from wandering off into space. I've attached my version.
