About She does not like it. My only problem with it is that I wish there was more light on her eyes. Luckily I think the photo has other things going for it.

A lovely, if a little stern, portrait of Marie! I agree with Carlos' suggestions, although maybe a little more contrast in the final result. She has quite piercing eyes!

Fill flash would have been the key, but I suspect the reason she didn't like it has to do with her expression. Hard to photoshop that.

Guili - your English is fine, it is easy to not be understood here... There is no print (scan from neg), if I do a print (not likely) it probably will be direct from digital.

maybe my english is not so good...
i mean, dont you have positivate the negative, and scan the copy?

I understand your wish for more light on the eyes...but that might break the beautiful atmosphere...strong placed in front of the blurr background...

Cheers,
Verena

Hello Guili - I'm afraid I don't understand your question about scanning the print? Actually, at this point there is no print, this was scanned directly from the negative.

i like both.
and the white ?fog? line at the background in line with her eyes.
could you have scan the print to get the same...?

Hi Stefan,

you named it... I wish there was a lot more light in the eyes part. But I really like the bold outcome, the B&W overall look and the seperation of the model from the background.

best wishes,
Thilo

I'm PS addicted, but i've never tried it this way! anyway i prefer the darker one, it's quite mysterious...

Hi Carlos - thanks a lot for that little PS lesson. I certainly need to learn more about this software...

The little tweak

please eliminate #3 from the above steps?

Indeed the portrait has much going for it Stefan ? what is immediately striking is the ?atmosphere? of the shot, much brought on by the model?s fine direct no-nonsense expression - I love portraits that are pure and unaffected as this is.
As you pointed you out the picture is too dark where it matters most. But a very quick procedure changes that.

1. create a new layer?
2. click on: Image, Adjustments, Shadow Highlight
3. On the new layer click on screen
4. bring down the Opacity to desired level.
5. eraser the excessive brightness of the background.

Cheers, C
